Dip polish troubleshooting

Hi, I recently started doing my own dip polish at home and I'm struggling a little...with darker colors, after I apply activator and start shaping/buffing, I'm getting little whitish marks on the surface of the dip that I can't get out no matter how much I file. I usually do 2-3 layers of color and 1 layer of clear prior to activator. Any ideas to help me out?
