I bought a director's style chair from Habitat back in 1997 and it was fairly cheap; less than a tenner I think; however that was a normal height chair; I guess you'd want it to have a higher seat for make-up work???

Yup, one doesn't want to be stooping too low. When I do a trial in my salon, I sit the client on my salon couch. Good height, but I can't take that with me for the wedding day make-up.

A fairly tall fold up directors chair would be fab!

Here's a site that does the tall ones online for just under 50 quid, Personalised Director Chairs, Customized gifts for every occasion - they can even personalise them with your business name although they charge extra for that.

Although I'd hope to find somewhere cheaper than that with some luck. Not sure if Ikea do anything that would work off hand...

Try IKEA. They usually have them and they're most probably reasonably priced too.

Got mine from ellisons too. The only prob is if the client is very heavy - it doesn't feel like it will take the weight - although I have managed with mine for about 4 years. There was a canny one on ebay but won't be able to post link - but it does come with a handy bag.
