Hiya all

Anybody got any tips or fab products to help disguise open pores (mainly cheeks?)

I need a heavy duty foundation or something to fill them in lol but that looks completely natural, iykwim

Anyone help?

You could try Dr Feelgood by Benefit. dr. feelgood : Benefit Cosmetics
It works under your normal foundation so you don't have to wear anything too heavy on top.

If you go to one of their counters they will apply to half your face so that you can see the difference.

just the product i was going to suggest! well you know what they say, great minds think alike!

you can also use it over the top of make up to mattify, which i much prefer to a powder which drys my skin out.

I am a member of a makeup review site and have recently been looking up primers.
BeneFits Dr FeelGood got pretty mixed reviews, but mainly negative.... Alot of people said that it caused their skin to breakout.
Results: 2.4/5 average rating, 31% would re purchase.

The one with best reviews for the purpose of covering open pores was Cliniques Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector.
Results: 4/5 average rating, 75% would re purchase.

:idea:Is this a sight anyone can join? Sounds really useful. It reminds me of Paula Begoun's book 'Don't Go to the Cosmetic Counter Without Me'. I know she has a site with a fee to join. She's saved me some money in the past.....

Blossom, I have the big pore problem too. One tip that helped me was the way I apply foundation. I use a foundation brush and sort of stretch my skin really taut and press hard with my brush so it really gets the foundation into the pores. That sounds so sad, but it really does help. Large pores are so hard to deal with since there's nothing you can really do but disguise. I feel for you. I prefer to look in mirrors from a slight distance lol!

PS - I use MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 - best I've ever used and I've tried a LOT! Very natural. Not sure if MAC is available where you are....

Hi Blossom

The trouble with open pores is, once you've got them, you can't get rid of them and I am speaking from experience.

Usually, if you have open pores it has been because you have had oily skin in your youth. As you "mature" the oil decreases but the open pores stay. The plus side is that your skin will most probaby mature at a decreased rate and you will look "eternally young" LOL! We wish!

Anyway to minimise your open pores regularly exfoliate (which I am a champion of anyway to encourage new skin cells coming to the surface of your skin) to smooth and even out your skin texture and also use a pore tightening face mask.

Then after skin preparation use a good skin primer as advised above, or I personally love Clarins Beauty Flash Balm to minimise pore size. Then, forget about fluid foundatins, use a top guality mineral power, a lovely lady on our site, I think her site name is Oley, recommends Lily Lilo (apologise if the name wrong) as yet I only use a chemist chain one and will order some of the quality products as soon as my purse allows!!!

Good luck with your "minimalise my pores" quest! XXX

 Hi Gelli, can you share that wed site? I won't tell anyone LOL:lol:
Well, maybe just a few people:Grope::green: Only those who read this post:!: OK, I have zero control of who gets it but we won't tell anyone else:lol:.....maybe. Ok, I'm just kidding; but if you can share I would love to look at it. Thanks, Barbara:hug:

Barbara - it's the site that I posted a link for.
You need to join to see the product reviews but it's free!
:)

Open pore often look worse as we get older due to the skin slackening.Start to use a firming skin moisturiser and massage face regularly.Better still have firming facials.

i have very large pores on my cheeks and i agree exfoliating is my biggy...i do it 3 times a week and it makes such a difference, as for foundation i have tried loads and my holy grail of the moment is max factors age renew...it has brilliant coverage but is satin to feel and spreads brilliantley i love it its dewy wothout being greasy and is medium to heavy coverage without being cakey.......i love ittttt plus it lasts all day and i am a hot flush chick

Wow thanks so much for all that feedback everyone and I shall be having a look at those links.

It's true I've been quite oily in the past and whilst it was a damn nuisance ALL of my teens/twenties/most of my thirties lol, I can now only slightly start to appreciate the "forever young" theory  well not forever but at least I look a little bit younger than I really am - I think:rolleyes::lol:.

OK off to B&Q now for some polyfilla

i use clinique pore minimizer instant perfector & i think it's great..mine happened at college during my first training course where we were practicing paraffin wax mask ..my skin unfortunately didn't take to it and i ended up having a heat reaction(sensitive skin)..all have diminished except a little bit round the nose ..i'm always glad of this product does exactly what it says on the tin when make-up is worn.
