Hi geeks, I'm thinking about doing my level 3 in beauty and ideally would like to do a distance learning course. Having done my level 2 already at college I no how important the practical aspect of the training is. I am looking for a distance learning course that has a practical element to it. Iv seen a few on websites such as the uk open college and stonebridge. But would really appreciate all you honest geeks opinions! Have any of you gained a level 3 through distance learning with a practical element o it? How did you find it? And would you recommend it? Did you have trouble getting insurance? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks geeks and happy Easter! :) x

Anyone? Would really appreciate your views on this especially if you have done a distance learning course..

I have to be honest but I really don't see how you can do this as a long distance learning course? Not effectively at least.

Are any of the courses you are looking into BABTAC or ITEC etc recognised?

All the courses I've seen have stated that you can get babtac insurance or beauty guild insurance due to the practical training element. From what I can gather Its all the theory that is home based and then go to a venue for the practical training... It would be ideal for me at the moment... But still a bit wary about it...

Any other experiences? .. Anyone? Lol

I did my level 2 with the carlton institute but i did my level 3 at college and felt more confident for it.

Distance learning isn't all it's cracked up to be in the sense that you can spend a lot of time doing paper work that a college would spoon feed you so that you could get on with yor practical.

Also, for level 3, I feel that access to equipment and and tutor supervision are vital.

I'm not saying "don't do distance learning" but what I am saying is "what do you think distance learning will give you that college won't?"

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for your reply.. I've defo got some thinking to do!
