Hey all im shouting out to all Jane Iredale Stockists here or any1 who may know!!! I want to take on Jane Iredale and my salon has been approved etc but thay have said that the minimum opening order is now £1,000 or€1,500 for me and this is just for the salon stand!!! I dont mind paying that as it looks fantastic and i will have it a very long time but i was hoping i would be allowed to have maybe 2 months credit to pay for it, but iv been told that they dont do credit and the first order has to be paid up front, im thinking of trying to negotiate with them as i think its alot for me to have to pay upfront, has any1 else been given credit with this Brand??? Iv got crredit with all my other brands and find it easier as you can sell the products and pay them back then wat do u think xxxxxxxxxx:confused:

I have an account but this was opened after about 8 months of trading with them and ordering each month paying up front.

I would very much doubt that you would get anywhere negotiating

hth's

That seems alot of money...and dont forget makeup goes off.....how much stock are you getting?

Im pleased that you are approved, I am looking at different makeup ranges at the mo

HI

What you need to consider with makeup brands is that make up fashions change hugely every season and you don't want to be left with unwanted stock.

For example when the new summer eye shades come out will they supply you with free testers or do you have to pay for them?

A lot of company's have a big minimum opening order limit, i think its to cut out small salons tbh which is not very fair.

Will your clients buy the make up from you ??

Are you going to recoup your money within a reasonable time limit?

I think you should try to negotiate, ask if you can do a structured payment plan say £1,000 split over 3 payments?

Before you get carried away with it all, which is very easy to do, when it's something YOU want, have you done some market research with your clients?

YOU may want the make up brand in, but that means diddly squat if YOUR CLIENTS aren't interested.

Quite recently I was really keen to get a VERY expensive bit of kit in the salon. However, after talking to some of the clients about it, they thought it sounded great but weren't sure if they'd cough up the dosh. Suffice to say, the idea is very much on hold.

I know I'm going off on a tangent, but if you're going to pay for the make up upfront you need to know it's want the clients want. Otherwise you'll be left with an awful amount of stock that you can't shift

It's maybe not stock, just the outlay for the testers and display stands?

When I bought my JI range it was all testers and no I did not get credit, I paid up front and still do with all orders.

Maybe you should just put on a credit card and pay back over three months, just the same idea?

Goodness me, £1000+ just for testers & display stands :eek::eek:. With no products to sell!!!:eek::eek:

Maybe it's me being stingy but I'd want something to sell at that price so at least I could recouperate some of my expenditure. Think VERY CAREFULLY if this is the right thing to do.:)

The economy is struggling don't forget.

Hi

Just wanted to say quickly I am looking to open an account with them and was told a different opening order so might be worth double checking.

Definitely agree, mine was nothing like that albeit over 2 years ago.

Mine too was a lot less than that for a opening order but again was over a year ago. I do have credit now but only after being with them for 6 months.

As an aside there is no minimum order with Barbara Bort. I'm waiting for a whole load of testers and samples to come through and will report back shortly.

Hi im too due to place my first order with jane iredale and if your a qualified makeup artist you can put a first order as little as £150 if not then its about £400 opening order i was told. I phoned up the rep who's dealing with me the other day and asked if they could give me 30 days credit so i could order a bit more stuff but she said its all pre paid orders for first 6 months then you can have an account so think the option is to whack it on the cred card if its not maxed out like mine

Good luck x
