I was just wondering if all of you that offer toe NNO's and such, do you have a pedi qualification? Do you really need 1 to offer a toe nail polish etc?

How would the insurance stand if something went wong, and you didn't?

I'm asking as i have qualifications in mani and gel nail extensions, but i've been asked to do a toe nail paint as part of a package. What do you think? Is it ok to charge for this?

Sorry to bombard you witth Q's

For just painting toenails .. no but who would paint people's toenails without first doing some sort of pedicure to clean the feet and to remove cuticle build up (where there is much more on the toes than the fingers). If you didn't do this the polish job would be rubbish and amateur and wouldn't last 2 minutes. Who would pay for a job like that?

So, yes, for insurance purposes you do need to have a pedicure qualification to work on clients' feet .. plus you would have a whole new service to offer in your business .... Why wouldn't you want to get qualified might be a better question? Maybe an even better question would be .. Would you pay or even want someone who wasn't qualified to do any service on your body?

Firstly, thank you for your response. I'm sure from previous posts i have read you are very experienced and good at what you do, however i find your responses can often be quite harsh.

I did not say that i wouldn't do a pedi qualification, i only asked if it were necessary. I have no intention of simply painting over somebody's nail without 1st cleaning the area and removing the cuticle build up. These are skills you have as a manicurist, surely they are transferrable?

I simply wanted to know if those people already offering the services have a pedi qualification... not for my own practices to be criticised!

There was no criticism or harsh tone unless you choose to 'read' it into my response.

Yes you do have to have a pedi qualification and the services are not transferable for the reason that feet have to be treated differently to hands as for one thing the skin is much softer and more prone to being cut and damaged.

Get to know me and I am a ***** cat! :green:
