Does anyone know about apprenticeships

I don't know if this is in the correct place.
Last year I had grand plans of turning a barn I have into a salon/spa so I did a few short courses, loved it so I am doing the full time level 2 course. My course is now drawing to an end and I want to go on to do level 3, I approached a salon about doing some work experience, 1 day per week. Anyway I started on Tuesday and lived it, the owner asked me if I was interested in an apprenticeship. I am, I really am but I don't know how much it will cost me, I had to pay full price for level 2 this year, as I'm 32 and I am not in receipt of any benefits, my husband earns a good wage so my question is, does anyone have a rough idea of how much this might set me back. I still have my grand plans for my barn but I would love some real hands on experience that an apprenticeship would give. Thanks in advance for any replies 💋

I've taken on apprentices in the past in another business and I've already offered an apprentice a position in my laser clinic which starts in August so I have a little knowledge I can pass on although I'm by no means a specialist in this area so do speak to a local college as well.

The 16-18 year olds the government funds the full course.

18-21 and then above it depends really but the college will pay a certain amount then the student or employer needs to pay the rest.

The way I see it is as you're 32 you will not need baby sitting and the employer will benefit from having you in the salon at a low salary rate. The minimum they can pay you is around £100 a week which isn't much but it's worth it as at college you will be getting nothing and you will have a year hands on which is priceless and possibly a customer base. So as the employer will also benefit they should pay towards your course it will cost them around £600 and the college will fund the rest. So ideally it will cost you nothing but if your employer will not pay this then you may need to pay it in order to get the apprenticeship.

Also the government introduced a new scheme recently for employers who have not taken on apprentices recently that they will get a £1500 grant if they take an apprentice on so the money they pay for an over 21 apprentice they will get back anyway plus more.

So the employer wins with low salary for a year and you benefit with training so it's a fair deal say.

I have a phone number from the college that I have to ring today for more information. I just want ed a rough idea of how much it might set me back. I was told the full time course next year will only be £600 compared to this years £1600, I'm hoping the apprenticeship will be about£600 or less too, I will phone this number today and share with all what that tell me.
