Hey all

Just booked a newbie for the end of the month who was referred to me.
She's from Atlanta, and wants the dollar bill nails.
I told her I had never done it, but knew of it, and was willing to give it a crack.

Has anyone ever done this with UV Gel, and do you have any tips or tricks to offer??

THANKS:!:

hi,
i know kirsty, aka scratchers has some great pics in her gallery of how to do dollar bill nails, but i think they are liquid and powder.... i dont do gel so cant advise on whether they would be any help to you at all....may be worth a look?????

Ok, thanks!

I guess I'll have to wing it... or build the nail, cure, file, then adhere the bills with adhesive, then gloss over?

I had thought to "encase" them in gel, but guess it doesn't quite work as it might with L&P or the Tip&dip. I would offer the tip&dip (as I've LOADS of experience with that), but she's set on UV Gel and it's tougher anyway.

Shall keep you posted and will share pics when I've done them.
:green:

You can use tips and glue the dollar bills to them, then just encase it in gel!! I can explain step by step if you want.

You mean prep them ahead of time :?: I cant do that, as she is coming at the end of the month and will only bring the american dollar then (I only have canadian as I live in canada LOL)
But maybe when she is here, size her and do it then... sounds much easier than the way I was thinking of. Then I do not have to worry about bulking the nail. I usually sculpt, but for this time, will do it your way I think.
Yes, please, would love the step by step.:green:

And yes, Scratchers has lovely art:green:

i thought it was illegal to cut up currency.
It is here in AUS.

A friend of mine did a set of bill nails with uv gels a while back, I'm going to see her next week and I'll ask her how she did it! I know they lasted a long time.

As for the legalities of cutting up a bill....not sure what our canadian rules are, but I imagine you could scan and print a fake one to replicate.

After these tutorials the government all of a sudden notices a decline in one dollar bills. lol

Here in the Uk it is an offense to deface or photocopy any banknote.....although strangely it seems not to burn it! Wierd!

I usually sculpt to but it would be too tricky to do these that way!
Here are the steps:
1.Prep the nails as usual
2.size the tips you want to use. ( I used white tips just because i liked the smile line)
3.cut the dollar bill into 10 pieces
4.use brush on nail glue and glue each piece of dollar bill on the nail tips(this is before you have applied the tips to the natural nails). it doesnt matter if the dollar bill is overlaping aroung the edges use small scissors to cut the excess.
5.make sure dollar bills are secured all aroungd the nail tip and that the glue has dried.
6. i recommend you use the french manicure nail tips so you wont have to blend them. next glue your tips to natural nails.
7. now you are ready to put the gel on like a regular tip overlay.
If you have any questions feel free to ask me.
Good luck!!

Your welcome!!

ever thought about cutting the bill into the shape of a well-less tips, then sticking this on (as a form of sorts), then sculpting over the top with gel or clear acrylic (remember, the strength comes from the acrylic), not the tip!!!!

In AUS, we have plastic notes ..... in 5 different colors:)
