hi is it possible to link 2 urls? i want to link my mobile service domain to my salon one i have registered the other domain but i cant link it to my site.

hope that makes sense

What do you want to do? Do you want the new domain to "redirect" to the old one, e.g. when you enter mynewdomain.co.uk in the web browser, the browser re-directs to get myolddomain.co.uk shown instead?

Or do you want the new domain to show mynewdomain.co.uk in the browser bar and get the same content as myolddomain.co.uk?

The techniques for each of these is slightly different; the former is normally simpler unless you have access to the web server configuration for the server that is hosting your site.

Who are your domains registered with incidentally? The exact technique for each will depend on who the domain is registered with - as the process is usually slightly different for each company, even though the end result will be the same...

Ah - but what are your two domains?

Ruth

i registered them through freewebs.

i registered them through freewebs.

Aha... Freewebs are certainly not the easiest to do fancy stuff with - they don't allow you to update the "www" record for DNS settings for example; I had to get around that by installing a DNS server daemon ("named") on my Linux server for someone I was doing a website for and updating the nameserver in the Freewebs settings. Then I was able to do the necessary DNS configuration by creating a zone file for that domain on my server.

Whereas 123-reg (who I think are cheaper than Freewebs) provide all that functionality as standard with their domains - so far less faffing about is involved...

i emailed freewebs and asked them to transfer the domain from my other one over so the domains would be under the same account..

so it shows my site whichever domain people type in...

salon or mobile name.. but i left my salon domain as my main one..

Well that's good that they were able to do that; I hope they didn't charge you extra for the privilege.
