Hello geeklaaaaars,
much needed advice! about 18 months ago i open my salon.:D
i bought my backwashes online(ebay) they were the newsbury design i did this because they were in a package with styling chairs....what a mistake!
they arrived damage! as the pedstels were fiberglass when we took them out of the packaging they were cracked!!
but the guy who sold then didnt want to know!! i called, emailed tried everything!
any way i needed to open so i had them fitted ( i had a fiber glass speacalist out and he said they were safe)
my plumber hated them from the onset saying" not fit for purpose, cheap china manufracturing) none of the fittings were standard!! has any one had this problem!
2 weeks ago as i was locking up i heard a big bang!! the hot water feed had exploded, water pumping into the air, flooding the shop!! in a matter of seconds, as my shop is above a coffee shop this was a nightmare!
my floor is ruined, water also came though the coffee shop ceiling, which needs replastering!! and my backwash is inrepairable as we cant get the parts that we need!
my insurance will sort the floor and ceiling, but not the backwash:sad:
i do not want to make the same mistake again, i really want some comfy backwashes that are fit for purpose and that wont let me down! but i dont want to pay the earth! any ideas or recommandation guys!!!

oh! every night before we leave now we turn the main stop tap off! so it can never happen again!!!:o
thanks shellarrow x

what about salons direct .com ?? i seem to remeber they had some nice ones and they are decent rem i think xx

Hi, I don't think the plumbing exploding would have anything to do with what the back wash was made of ?.... sounds more like a plumbing problem that has caused it ...you should be covered for the plumbing surley ? sounds more like a bad plumbing job .... but would this be hard to prove ? ....

:lick: cheers Dee, i will take a look at salons direct, sounds good! just want to get it perfect this time.
oh minky, it was defo a backwash manufacture problem and not the plumbing the hot water feed in question which is covered in a sliver threading had compeltley split ( which it shouldnt do) iv have worked in salons for many years and have never seen anything like it!:D

Out of interest why won't the insurance cover the backwash replacement?

hello there.well, i have never made a claim in my life so was a bit unsure how to go about it...it seems to me you have to chose your words wisely!
the insurance will only pay out for damage that is a direct result of outside infulance ie; the water.
although i have been in talks today because if i can prove the backwashes were not fit for purpose i can make a claim! so you never know i might be lucky.;)
