Hope some of the electrolygist geeks can help me. I have just got a new client for electrolysis. She has very thick dark hairs under her chin, as thick as a mans beard. I have no problem probing but I am still getting quite a bit of pull when removing the hair, but the bulbs are huge on each hair.

At the moment I am doing the blend method on settings of
07 05 55
7 being the thermolysis
5 being 5 seconds
55 being galvanic
I am using an f4s needle and my client said she is quite comfortable duing treatment.

I was wondering what method and settings everyone else would use during these circumstances or if anyone could give me some hints and tips

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

has she waxed before?.. if not i would probably use Galvanic because i find its more effective with courser hairs x

Thankyou for your reply. What setting would you start her on? Sorry if I seam quite thick but im really new to this and I dont want her to be disappointed. The other few clients I have, have reacted well to blend but non of these client have hair as coarse as this lady.

Thanks again I apprieciate it :)

Hi Beckie

I don't know how much settings vary from machine to machine, but I was taught to use thermolysis on a maximum of 2.5-3 for blend. So, I would try reducing the thermolysis and increasing the time. I'm not suggesting you make the client uncomfortable but if she is comfortable and the skin is not showing damage, I would increase the galvanic too.

sorry i forgot to mention i use the sterex blend machine. i was taught to start thermolysis on 4 and im pretty sure u can increase it up to 7 when doing blend. But i will check my course notes.

what does everyone else think about changing my method from blend to galvanic?

Hi Rebecca
If your client's skin is reacting well to treatment, I would try increasing the galvanic upto 60, then if the hairs are still tugging go upto 65, ie go up in intervals of 5. I also trained on the Sterex Blend machine and this is what we were taught.
I can't comment on galvanic alone, I remember we were told to use 10 second applications of galvanic current if using it alone, which seemed very long-winded to me so I never use it, but see what others say.
Hopefully after a few more treatments her hairs will start to weaken and come out without any resistance.

you could try treat and leave, treat the hair then go back to it, then tweeze it, the chemical reaction will continue for a bit after removing the needle, you could also do 3 seconds wait a second (leaving the needle in) then 2/3 seconds
when i trained we done a transexuals beard, was very thick, so it felt like you were plucking the hair altho you werent the bulbs were huge, i tend to feel a slight difference with plucking and removing, as long as your not plucking xx

Thanks Naughty fairy, I did the lady again today and did treat and leave with the machine on blend, .5/06/65 and had excellent results. I sometimes get some resistance but like you said its because of the size of the bulb. Thanks again
