I'm still rubbish at nail art but determined to keep trying different techniques.

Have seen Mrs Grey's tutorial on art deco nails and fancy giving it a go but the empower nail films are quite expensive when I'm just starting out. Are there are cheaper alternatives out there or any homemade versions that have been tried and tested?

I saw a tip on a facebook page which says tonuse micro pore tape as an alternative.

A roll will cost less than £1 for the first aid supply section of boots etc.

I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. I have loads in my eyelash kit.

:)

Ah fab thanks. I'm sure we've got some in our medicine cabinet, will give it a bash

I bought micropore tape yesterday. Comes with a handy little dispenser.

I also bought some striping tape for more skinny lines.

Mini4mum has bought a roll of sticky back plastic and her colour pop rocks!

I did this with Tesco Sticky Backed plastic which is a few metres long & costs £1!! It sticks perfectly to the nail without lifting!! 😄👍

A UK Stockist is going to be announced very soon I believe for Empower Nail Art.

Sarah xx

Haha! I also did the sticky backed plastic! It worked ok, but I think the empower will be a bit more sticky! Snap picture!! ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1412279313.408004.jpg

Fab thanks ladies, I shall try both suggestions. My shopping basket will be filled with sticky items tomorrow, that's not going to look weird at all!

Painters tape works great.

Sorry to jump on an old thread - but has a uk stockist for empower nail tape been releaed yet? I'm desperate to try some Art Deco designs but my tape keeps bleeding underneath :(

Thanks so much ladies.. off to order some! :)

Sarah, can these be used successfully with vinylux or when peeling off will the vinylux come too? x

I haven't tried hun so wouldn't wanna say yes or no. BUT! I would suggest if you were gonna do it, pull off before the VINYLUX dries, so literally go along one nail at a time 👍

This has given me an idea for a tutorial 😃 xx

Would be fab if you did a tutorial! Other thought I had was to finish to topcoat, then once fully dry stick on film, paint and additive (or whatever the design), then peel off and topcoat again. That's potential quite a few layers though! x
