Hi. I'm just after a bit of feedback on my first card for my EN course. I'm doing the acrylic tip and overlay course.

I have added more picture to my to album on my profile so you can get a side view etc.

I'm happy for any help and advice you can give me.... just try and do it in a nice way if you could :)

Thanks in advance

Hi GillyGirl. Well done they are really good!! They look better than mine and I scored 17/20 so I think you should send the card off and start working on your whole hand practice card.

Yeah, they look really good. I also got about 16/17 on this first card. Good Luck with the whole hand card and let us know how you do.

xxx

Thanks ladies. :)

I think i will send it off just to get a bit of an idea of what i need to work on for my full hand. I've still got a few air bubble issues but i think its about as good as i can get them at the minute!

Did anyyone send off there question papers with the first card?? I'm not sure if i'm supposed to keep hold of them until i've finished the whole hand card or not?

Thanks for your replies, it nice to get a bit of a confidence boost. Thats the problem with home learning.... theres nobody to tell you if you're doing ok or not!! xx

I sent off my test papers with the first card. I know what you mean about not having anyone to say if you're doing well or not. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to nails and I would happily have spent another 6 months practicing before sending my second card off but I posted a pic on here and everyone said they were good enough to pass so I sent it off and passed with distinction :) I couldn't believe it lol.

I spotted your picture on here a while back..... i was devistated because they looked great. Mine didnt look anywhere near as good!!
I've already been through 3 packs of nails because i've used so many of the size 6 ones for my first card. I just wasnt happy with them, but i've got to the stage now where every nail i do is looking about the same so i thought i'd got as good as i can without a bit of advice to tell me if i'm doing ok or not. I'm going to post them in the morning and hope for the best...... i'll let you know how it goes!!!

You wouldn't believe how many number 6 nails I got through  You shouldn't feel bad because you thought my nails looked better, I had probably just had more hours of practice. The only way I improved was to make sure I did 5 nails EVERY day no matter what! Even if it was late at night when my girls were finally asleep :irked: You just need to keep practicing. I also found that if I timed myself once a week I noticed a difference which boosted my confidence, even if I had only knocked 2 minutes off my time it was still an improvement!

Yep, late night nails is a regular thing in my household too! I'll keep plugging on..... i've got the whole hands to get through now, which means i'm back to spending time with that pesky no. 13 nail!! grrrrrr!!!! :irked:

hi, is this the essential nails course you are talking about? im thinking of doing it but everyone seems negative about learning from home so im not sure! all the info they sent me looks good though.

Hi there. Yes this is the essential nails course. They arent very highly thought of here on salon geek (with good reason on some aspects)

They are good a good starting point for people who dont have the option of doing a classroom course but they are a basic course and i think you will need further training before you can make a business of nails. Its also not that much cheaper than a classroom course when you've purchased the extra nails you need to complete the course and the maintenance course too.

Saying that, i've really enjoyed doing mine and because i have 2 small children i didnt have the option of going away to train in a classroom.
All first courses are a foundation course and you will probably want some more training which ever course you start with.

So it depends on your circumstances! If you can get into the classroom i think you will learn quicker and more affectively... if not, give EN a go!

Don't talk to me about the number 13  It took hours and hours to suss that one!!!

thanks gilly girl, there is a sallys near me who do a course in january so i may go to that. hope your course goes well :) (id comment on the pic but dont have a clue whats going on in it!
