Hiya,
I encapsulated a couple of rhinestones into clear acrylic last night and was surprised that the finished article left them looking like 'flatstones'. I dont remember this happening in the past.
Does anyone know if I did anything wrong ... or do they always look like this.

yes, i notice this also, i think it is because light can't bounce off the fascets when the stone is under a layer of acrylic.were they swarovski stones or a less expensive type?
 
i also tried this and noticed some styed shiny some flat, looked like they had been put on upsidr down
 
I find if you put a clear acrylic over the top they look great but if i use a pink the stones look really flat.

i used glitter tip then put in the stone then clear acrylic on top still looked dull
