Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum today! Got an Essential Nails Acrylic course a while back & just started having another go with it today. Sorry if you've had his question a million times before but I'm having trouble glueing the tips, for a start I'm using the 13 nail with 7 tip, the c curve just doesn't seem to fit without what seems too much filing, when I glue it on its just one massive bubble or one smallish one in the centre grrr  its driving me nuts & I'm wasting all the kit! I know some ppl on here have said buy different glue if they don't stick, they seem to stick its just the bubbles or would that gel bond glue prevent bubbling also? Please help me!

Ali

Hi welcome, you don't have to use the no 13 it's the hardest nail to master with essential nails you can do your first card with the the no 6, but if you want to carry on with the no 13 cut some of the well out it will fan out better, it can be done believe me i done the gel and acrylic with essential nails and i never had any trouble with the glue but had the airbubble problem with the no 13 until i cut some of the well away:)..xx

Hi Carole, thanks for that but how do I cut the well out?!! x oh just realised! do I trim some off the bottom then?

Hi Ali, you can use nail clippers at each side or scissors, when the wells cut away a bit it helps the nail tip to lay flatter..xx

Or you can use eclipse tips from sweet squared as these are intended for the flatter nail

Hiya there is an essential nail group on here and one on facebook join them you will get lots of help good luck :)

Don't despair, the whole point of these difficult nails is that you will be able to master any type of nail when they are presented to you on a real live hand. If you can master the nail trainer then you will not be panicked by any nail shape on living people! :D

Uhm sorry but slightly disagree, there are loads of difficult nailshapes in real life and the no 13 is easy compared to that. Not to scare anyone, but please realise the trainerhand is NOT anything like a real hand, it's a great tool to begin with, and train productcontrol on, but it is easy to deal with, even when you make the deep sidewalls (to me they are not so deep, when you see some of my clients)

Yes, maybe I got a bit carried away with myself but it is certainly better to be practicing on the nail trainer than just doing one model as on some nail courses. I think we all realise that this is the beginning and the lack of panic that I mentioned was meant to mean that the nail trainer makes us realise that not everyone will have a perfect nail and we will expect all sorts of shapes and sizes in real life. Not that these were the only nail shapes we would ever come across. I will be more careful of how I put things in future so that everyone understands me clearly.:D:D

I'm yet to come across anything in the real live hand world as horrific as that bloody no 13 nail!!! :D I still scowl grumpily at my nail trainer everytime i see it.

I used the no. 2 tip on the 13, cut it down loads but it seemed the only one that was flat enough.

Then we are at the same page, the trainerhand is a great tool, I totally agree.

Regarding the no. 13 nail, in Denmark (maybe scandinavia) I find we have very very flat nails, and also skijump nails is harder than the 13 one IMO, but I have to say I bought some cnd tips and actually had no problem whatsoever with the 13 LOL

Hi. I used to put a bit of glue on the 'natural' nail where i was getting the bubble and that helped me. I also use the number 2 tips and filed them down so they fitted at the sidewalls. HTH :D

Hi im new on here today and was wondering if anyone is doing Acrylic essential nails course ?? need some help on how to get the tips to stick to nail trainer its driving me nuts and i feel ready to throw in the files lol !!!

To the question about about the sticking. I have always found that the essential nails glue is very difficult to work with as it has a very thin consistency. Personally I chose to change the glue to the one I still use to this day which is CND Gel Bond (the pink one)....

Saying that many geeks have completed the course without substituting and of the materials and so it can be done.

When dealing with the glue in the kit it is very important to make sure you are not putting on too much glue, very often this is the reason that it does not stick correctly as it has a long drying time as it is and so when there is lots of it, it just never seems to dry and just slips all over the nail instead. It is suprising how little you really need. Try a few using a less glue, yes some you will not have enough and it wont work but you will find out what the correct amount is.

Also, because of the slower drying time, be sure to hold the tip firmly in place for a decent amount of time. If they recommend 10 seconds, hold it for 20 as I dont think I ever got that glue to set in 10 seconds. After all you are working on the nail trainer and time is less of an issue when you are just starting out.

Dont worry this is the tough part, everyone remembers those frustrating times working with the nail trainer no matter which company they trained with as mastering tipping and blending is a frustrating process, but thats why it is a skill.

If you can change the glue or the tips to make life a little easier all the better but if the budget wont stretch do not worry as many people complete the course just fine with whats in the box, and after you have passed, you can change the products you use to suit you.
