I am up here in little old Scotland.:green:
Do you think it is worth my while and money to go down to Excel London??

I have not been to the ExCel show before although I am going this time.

I suppose it all depends on what you want from it and your reasons for going? Are you setting up a salon? Are you working part time from home and just want to see what is new? Are you going to meet friends? Do you have pre-set ideas of which suppliers you want to see?

Depending on what you are looking for, as Theresa says, you might be better going to the Scottish show

I agree, it was pants.
I think most suppliers can't be bothered to come all the way up to Scotland.

This is why I am asking about Excel, because the Scottish Beauty Show wasn't up to much, but I don't want to go all that way to Excel if there is the chance it might be ""pants"":cry:

I am in the process of setting up my ""home salon"" and have been doing a lot of talking on phone and emailing different suppliers to get information, prices, samples, so I thought it might be a good opportunity to talk to and see different suppliers all at once.

What do you think?
If you have been before, what did you think??

I've been the past two years and found it fantastic, i saved so much money on my set up costs and was able to meet the exhibitors and have product demos, almost all stands have some kind of discounts so i plan to stock up for the following year whilst there. if you don't really need/want anything it could end up costly as its far too tempting:green:, but that said there are some really good masterclasses and demos this year too, hth :)xx

I always enjoy the professional beauty show

not sure what suppliers you have looked at but there are lots of special offers, just checkout the site

The edinburgh show is rubbish your right suppliers dont really want to come up here. I would say excel is worth a trip and a good excuse to make a weekend of it in london!

Excel was massive when I went 3 years ago; it's probably even bigger now. Also you can probably get quite cheap flights to London on EasyJet or whoever, and it's a good excuse to have a nice jolly to London after all.

I went last year and also 2006, travelled from Spain both times (on my own) and loved every minute of it :D can't go this year though and I'm gutted.

It's definitely worth the trip in my opinion, there are usually loads of 'show only' bargains, it's also fab if you can meet up with other geeks and put names to faces.

I have been down to excel for the last few years as it is much better than the Scottish shows. I've stopped going to the Scotland ones and just go to Manchester and London shows now. Excel is much bigger than all the others and all the big names seem to go so I think its worth the effort and the money but as everyone else says it depends what you want to get from the show.

If i do decide to go, any suggestions on where to stay??

I love Excel, and would highly recommend it.
I dont bother going to any of the other ones either now, just Excel once a year is enough for me - it is massive!

An annoying thing this year is that it is on Mothers day, and I also like to go one the Sunday. - I think I will make my Mothers day on the Saturday for my Mum! :irked:

I am trying to think of some hotels near Excel for you...
I know there are quite a few, one called Remarda... I think that is the correct spelling!
There should be a list of hotels on the back of the ticket forms.
If not just google `hotels near Excel in East london`
My sister works over in city airport and she will know lots of hotels near the area- so I will ask her and get back to you.
I would book soon though if I was you, as with all the exhibitors there, the hotels will get full quickly!
