Hi guys
Sorry to ask a silly question!! but i really need some advice!

Just had a call from a lady who is booked in tonight for a spray tan at 8 and she has just said that she has exfoliated and shaved about an hour ago as she forgot to do it last night!!

Will it go funny??

Sorry to sound dense but havent come across this as only been spraying about a month

Thanks

Ideally it should be done the day before but I have had clients do this and it has been fine. I do it myself also and had no problems. The only time i would worry is if they had just waxed xxx

No worries it will be fine, I myself always bath, exfoliate and shave about an hour before my tan and its always fine! Obviously i tell my clients to do it the day before but on myself i always do it same day, not to worry x

The only thing you might find is, as she has shaved today you may get little spots were the solution has gathered (you could gently pat this out with your mit if it is quite noticeable), the skin may be a little dryer on her legs (mine always goes dry after shaving) but if you had already given her pre tan guidelines then your not to blame if this does happen, to be honest I have had clients turn up saying the same and at their request still sprayed them with no problems. Just make sure she is clear about possibilities.

thats great thanks guys!! i always feel silly asking simple questions but as always everyone is really helpful and friendly about it!!

Thanks again!!

i had given her the pre tan guidelines and she admits it is her own fault because she forgot but she has a wedding to go to tme afternoon so just wanted to check!!

Well said

In an ideal world you shouldn't spray tan skin that has been shaved 24 hrs previously .

That's an ideal world but the reality is that many ,as has been suggested in this thread do....if it works that's fine but just be aware of the possible problems you could be faced with.

I certainly wouldn't recommend a spray tan application on any broken or scuffed skin and just watch out for spotting around areas where the hair has been removed.
HTH

I had 2 girls come in a couple of weeks ago and both of them had just shaved their legs.
I suggested they came back the next day as i would rather not spray them if they had just shaved.
They were both fine with this and came back the next day.
Some people can get the 'spotted look' worse than others.
When i explained to them why i didn't want to spray them the one girl said 'oh is that why my legs always go spotted after i have applied fake tan then'.
Obviously it was a good idea to do her the next day as she would have spotted.
I think if you explain to your client why you don't want to spray they will understand. If they still insist on being tanned then it's their call and at least you've explained to them what could happen.

thank you!! i didn't end up doin the tan that night - i went early in the morning (and i mean early 6am!!) she was over the moon and the fact that i was concerned about the results for her meant she thinks i'm wonderful ha ha ha

so thanks guys for the help!!

Good job and goes to show that the vast majority of times things work out for the good.

Just goes to show that even when things work out fine most customers appreciate and consequently think better of you as a therapist if you do run through and possible problems they could experience
