Hi guys,
I just wanted to know if everyone does extractions on congested skin. I always do, because if someone has black heads and ready to burst spots how can you let them leave you salon without those being removed?
The reason I’m asking that I had a few facials lately and felt like therapists didn’t really want to do it:rolleyes:, why?
How do you do extractions? Do you use any special equipment?
Looking forward to your comments,
Cheese

hi I dont know why they wouldnt want to do it, but is a little bit cruddy sometimes:green: I use tissues to extract when the skins warm and the pores are open ,this is where you wrap your fingertips in tissues so they resemble "fingerbobs" ,then use a rolling method to extract. In college youre sometimes taught to use a comedone extractor but i think this is a bit harsh on the face and imo its not necessary when you can do the job just as well using the gentler method
hth:hug:

Hi I do extractions, especially if the client has booked the facial because their skin is spotty and conjested. Some clients just want a relaxing facial so I would always ask. I always use the rolling and finger tissue method after steam and product that i was taught by dermalogica. I never squeeze red spots or ones with a head on though as I thought this would probably cause scarring and lead to further breakouts in that area. Extractions aren,t always as successfull as I would like, I have a good couple of goes and if they don,t come out leave them as I don,t want to mark the skin. Do you think extractions are more successfull when using electrical equipment?

I use a product specifically designed to aid extraction, called Bio Arome E by SwissDermyl. Alternatively I use their ThermoMask which does the work for you!
I'm always careful with extractions - I don't want to risk spreading any infection across the skin, and I don't want to further redden the skin.

I just steam and exfoliate the skin first, then sometimes i use a tiny needle to pierce the skin(only for closed comedons) and then if there was lots of extractoin I never massage just do a mask and Hi frequency at the end. the results are fantastic, clients always come back for more.:)
