Good Monday everyone

I know this topic has been covered before so i could have simply replied to one of the many existing posts, however I chose to start a new one because the problems I'm experiencing are of the Skittles variety, as it were

Despite my last post, I've actually been out of action with regards to nails for the last 4 months due to health issues. I'm hoping to get started again soon but am worried this may not be possible due to the allergic reactions I've been getting to various products whenever I practice. This didn't happen when I was training before but recently something seems to have changed and many things to do with nails have become no go areas! It appears that I am not only allergic to dust, but fumes and glue too. I only have to open a bottle of monomer or squeeze out a pea-sized amount of glue and already my eyes are watering, my nose is running, I begin wheezing as if I'm going to have an asthma attack (I am not asthmatic), I become dizzy, my chest is tight, and my skin becomes inflamed. Plus if I touch the stuff (I try not to, but often it spills on me) I get a burning rash.

This can't be over exposure because it happened the very first time I recently opened a bottle of monomer or glue, and continues happening even if I leave them alone for a day, a week, or a month. I've got various brands of monomer and glue (LCN, Star Nails and EZFlow) and I have the same reaction to all of them.

I read about nitrile gloves and am going to buy some, but I don't know what to do about the respiratory and optical problems. Would a simple cone mask be adequate for my needs, or a pleated mask, or something more heavy duty such as this https://www.seton.co.uk/setoneurope/catalog/0/20/100007-1 200127-2 306502-3.html?
And what about my eyes? Am I going to have to wear welding goggles?! How about a gask mask lol  My God, I'm going to end up looking like a surgeon or a biotechnician or even someone out of Hostel and scare away all my potential clients!

I truly do believe nails are my calling and don't want to quit on account of these allergies.

Again, apologies for not tagging this onto an existing relevant topic. If anyone can help, I extend my thanks in advance.

well. I am allergic to most glues too, so that's why no one can tip me, and I tend to avoid tipping anyone. (now I am allergic to most glue on the forms too, so beware as this may happen too... but it doesn't happen with everybrand, so there is still some hope. typically the Entity corrective forms and OPI freeforms make the cut)

then, nitril gloves work very well. they have a classy look too ;)

I don't honestly understand how you can be in direct contact with your monomere. meaning, touching it.

use Gigi's method, some blutac under your dappendish to stick it to your table, and use an eye dropper to fill your dappen, you'll avoid the most common *possible reasons*.

I know using some products, really *hard* products doesn't help me breathe either, typically my liquid buff + activator, these are derivated from glue, so this may explain why. what I do is wearing a mask when I use these.
I do wear glasses when I use an e-file (so not that often LOL) because it hurts so much to get a tiny bit of nail in your eye!

and my table has an air-depression system (very complicated, meaning it's like a Dyson vacuum... lol) and it works perfect. there is also a thingy for the fumes, but I don't mind these.

anyway. these are just ways I use...

I think your best bet is still to get the MSDS sheets of your products and bring them to a specialist who will test you on these and tell you what you're exactly allergic to. then you can move on.

Thanks for the advice Doorie. What type of mask do you use? What do you use for the fumes? I have a small extractor fan which definitely helps with the dust but the fumes get to me as soon as I open the bottle!

I got the monomer on me by accident and it was only a tiny drop the size of a tear drop, but the damn thing done gave me frickin' blisters!!

the masks are medial ones... those kinda paper ones... I hate wearing them as they smell like hospital and I faint so I add a few drops of essential oil just to change the air LOL.

only wear them when there is dust, so only when I file, with the extractor on...
for the fumes, well... I don't have a clear pict, but my table has a kind of pipe, and I put my dappen under it, and it works a bit. but I do not know how to translate the way it works. (note, it doesn't "clean up" the fumes totally. but it does help a bit)

WHERE DID YOUS GET YOUR EXTRACTOR FANS?? I CANT FIND ONE! IM MOBILE SO WOULD NEED A PORTABLE ONE
