Hiya ,
iv recently done the eyelash extension course I done my friends lashes the other day only managed to do half a set on each eye because it was taking forever ;( I know the more I practice the quicker I will get , its 9 days later and she said she has one lash on each eye left ;(
they only lasted a few days and she claims to have followed my after care eeek I mean I only took £20 off her because for now want to keep on practising before I offer it as a service , but is there any thing I can do to stop this happening again? :) any advice would be appreciated:)

How did you prep the lashes? I normally remove all traces of makeup with oil free remover, then use a primer which I apply using micro brushes. Then start to apply lashes once they are completely dry.
Are you using enough glue?
Sorry, just a few thing that could be the problem so worth checking xxx

Keep practising, yes.

You cannot take an average with only one person do more then you should see if there was a problem.

I dont know who you trained with, was it a 1 day course (like a lot of them!) or other.

What support do you get from them as well? its important. Look at what they can do, some of the trainers are naff, you think they are good as you are new but when you look around your eyes open.

I hope you get really good support.

What are the brands of products that you are using as well, what is the type of glue/adhesive.

Hey ladies
Thanks for the replies I trained with Marvel and use there products it was a day course . And they did provide us with details to contact our tutor . I will carry on practicing and see how other people find them I didnt use a primer as they did not advise us to so that on our course I will invest in one if you think it will help any recommendations??? , I know its trial and error just think I need to get practice in and loads of it .:)

I recently had a lady come to my spa wanting to rent one of my rooms who did them. She did a set on myself and another lady. I followed all the aftercare and they still all came off by the next day. I wasn't impressed and didn't rent the room out to her in the end. I know my clients wouldn't have been best pleased if they'd paid £90 for a set for them only to all come out the next day. It's a shame because she was really nice. I did ask her about it but she said most of her clients have been pleased with them.
I wanted my therapists to train in them but im not so sure anymore. What would've made them all fall out that quickly? I wasn't wearing eye make up, I didn't get them wet or rub my eyes. They looked amazing when they were first done.
Was it the therapist?

Thanks

Hey Sarah

They all fell of the next day???!! well im happy my friend said hers sheded over the course of the 8 days :)
In my manual it says if lashes fall of almost immediately - maybe incorrect application .
Maybe the glue was not on the entire lash .Maybe the lasheses where not free from oils?!
If they fall off within 48 hours could be exposed to water or steam or other solvent like eye make up remover .
I know loads of people who have had the treatment and have been very happy with it and there lashes have lasted .
I know other people who have horror stories saying there lashes have dropped out , snapped off , or extensions aint lasted I think it very much depends on the products you use and the clients after care :) x

One thing they dont tell you with the lashes is that anti-biotics and thyroxine both affect the life of the lashes. Not advisable to apply when on these medications.

Oh they never mentioned that :eek:x

when you are putting the glue on the lash do you make sure there are no little blobs like bubbles on the lash from the glue? my tutor told me that they had a few people phoning a while ago because lashes were fallen out really quickly and they worked out it was the bubbles in the glue from having too much on the lash ..

hth xxxx

Thanks Kapowski.

I'll try not to let it put me off next time.

If you are saying they all fell off the next day then it certainly seems that something wasnt right in the application.
As with everything the preparation is key and if the lashes arent cleaned and primed to remove any oils etc then the extensions and the adhesive cant form a lasting bond!
the other key is to use a sealant after the application to give the extensions a good protection and this way the lashes can really last the full time without any problems.

So, yes it could be the therapist and the technique she uses or it could be the products she is using or not using that could cause these problems but dont be put off by this as not all therapists are like this and different companies offer different products and training! If you find a reputable company that offers accredited training and high quality products as well as superb after care and ongoing support you wont have any problems like this!

This caught my eye as I am on a high dose of thyroxine and have no problem keeping the lashes on - food for thought......
