Hi Geeks,

I bought an eyelash extension kit from sallys (i know what your thinking) for an appointment on saturday evening. Got to the persons home, did the treatment and she was so happy. Left proud of myself as havent done them for a little while as had surgery just before xmas and wanted to bring myself back in slowly. Anyway got a text yesterday afternoon saying "hi emily woke up this morning with half the lashes on the pillow. You may need a stronger glue. Not impressed."

Rang sallys today and the manager said she would give me a refund.

So after a long time to get here these are my 2 questions

1. what could have caused this to happen?
2. what new kit should i get now??

Thanks

Emily

Hi Emily,

The message your client sent you was a little rude even if she was disgruntled. However I would look to rectify the situation by offering to redo them when you get a better kit. Personally I would call back the client and tell them you had a problem with your supplier (which you kind of did), that they have taken the glue back and that you will contact her when you get the new kit to redo them free of charge, some people may not agree with this but I have found that people will be loyal if they know you will go out of your way for them, otherwise she may want a refund but it would be better if you could redo them and make them look nice thus redeeming the damage done. Most people use the lashes and glue they trained with, I personally don't do lash extensions, but hopefully someone else can recommend something.

I would also check though that the client didn't go over the extensions with oily eye make-up remover or cleanser (did you warn her not to) and that she didn't sleep squashing them.

What a pain though!

thanks for your quick response, I have offered to go back and do them when i am next there in a couple of weeks time but she has not got back to me. I dont want to force the issue so am going to leave it until she gets back to me

Well if she doesn't reply maybe they weren't actually that bad!!!

Were these the cluster lashes or the single lashes that are fitted one by one,
and are you trained to fit them ?

they were 3 strand cluster lashes, and yes i trained at college to do individual eyelash extensions.

I thought those lashes only lasted 2 days or so anyway?

the kit i bought said they lasted 4-5 weeks depending on the clients eyelash cycle.

The adhesive that is sold in Sally's is only meant for temporary cluster lashes that are meant to last a couple of days,

the adhesive that will hold lashes in place for up to 3 months is only sold for the semi permanent lashes that are applied 1 by 1,
and only sold to professionals trained in semi permanent lashes (not cluster lashes)
this adhesive is not suitable for the cluster lashes,
if you use this on the cluster lashes you would damage the natural lash as the cluster is too heavy for 1 natural lash over a length of time,

cluster lashes = temporary adhesive

semi permanent lashes = very strong adhesive

hope that makes sense and helps you

thanks for all you help.

just wondering though surely the cluster kit shouldnt say semi permanent or a time as long as it did on it then??

Thanks

Hi

how much do you all charge for this service?

Also how much do you all charge to apply strip lashes?

Hi

how much do you all charge for this service?

Also how much do you all charge to apply strip lashes?

I charge £100 per full set of semi permanent lashes,
£25 for a full set of temporary cluster lashes,
i don't use strip lashes at all as clients can buy these in the pound shops, hth

They do hun you are right! I use them when I am going out and they have lasted 3 days max but then i wash off my mascara. For someone that doesnt use mascara and cleanses their face with cleanser instead of face wash then they could last a little longer. xxx

cheeky cow!! sorry it really bugs me when clients are rude!! for all you know she could have gave them a good rub in her sleep!!!! lol

i use the same ones i charge £7 to £12 for them but after the advice on here im going to charge a little more! mine last a good week and if well looked after they have been known to last 2 and a bit weeks, a good tip is to dip the end in the glue and stroke it through the lash, once full length of lash has glue on then i stick it the lash on as normal, you may already do this, i find they do last longer

- i also tape the bottom lashes with a strip of micropore tape (doesnt hurt one bit) and then they dont get stuck together and the client can keep her eyes closed opening evry now and again.
