Please note: YES I am aware different products require different lamps, and that not all bulbs emit the same UV.
I am NOT attempting to provoke a debate or argument.

As usual, as a mom etc... and like anyone else on the planet.. we have budget issues.
At this time, I need to replace my lamp.
Now, the question is WHICH one do I get FIRST? (I understand that I may well need 2. DON'T YELL AT ME)

I use EZ Flow Gel-IT, which up to this point has done very, very well in a no-name tunnel lamp.
HOWEVER I'm replacing it with either the
Ez Flow Lamp
OR
CND Brisa Lamp.

My question is, which lamp will cure both my EZ Flow Gel-It AND my Shellac?
I can NOT buy both at the same time. It is simply NOT possible.

So... which first and WHY?
What is the SPECIFIC difference in the two (and don't answer "uv output" unless you're telling me by how many degrees or whatever. I KNOW the uv output is different)

THANKS

As far as im aware you need the brisa lamp to cure shellac and no other lamp will cure it properly with no future problems and i think you can cure other gels with the brisa lamp. but like any company they do advise there own lamp. i would suggest getting the brisa lamp 1st then when you can afford it get the gel it lamp aswell.

Hi Victoria .. apart from UV output what I can tell you is about some of the features of the CND UV Lamp.

  • The CND lamp does have the same wattage but some of the significant differences are most visibly,
  • the placement of the bulbs in the CND UV Lamp is specifically for 5 finger curing and to make sure the shorter fingers (thumb and little) are placed near the middle of the bulbs (where the UV output is highest as it should be).
  • It has multiple curing times to choose from and the digital clock counts DOWN letting (being an impationet sort of person:lol:).
  • The lamp also counts the hours the bulbs have been in use and you can check periodically to make sure your bulbs do not need to be replaced.
  • It has two foot plates one for feet and one for hands which makes for easy sanitising and more comfort for the client too.
  • Handy carrying handle if you need to transport
  • a very reasonable price point.
Best Lamp I have ever owned. IT 'FEELS' substantial and like a quality piece of kit. Hope that all helps. x

PS thank you for the lovely comments Holly S shared with me that you wrote!

Hi Victoria. :) My inclination would be to get the cnd lamp. If you've done very well in the past with a no name lamp for your gel it, then how could you fail with a creative one, plus the fact that you'll be ready to go with your shellac services.

Brisa will cure both for sure, EzFlow lamp only GelIt for sure :) So you do not have much choice really.

victoria, is it not possible to purchase the new cnd uv lamp in canada?
is there a special reason why you need the brisa lamp, or were you just talking about cnd lamps in general ?
i think the new one has better features than the brisa lamp.

The new CND lamp is the new Brisa Lamp and also the new Shellac lamp and also the new ????? product lamp. lol The original CND UV Lamp is still as good as it ever was and will cure Shellac as well as the new lamp but the new one has a few more new features as I described above .. like anything we move on. Doesn't mean the original lamp is pants ... it'll do the job just fine!!

oh, no, i totally understand that. it certainly will do the job properly.
i just wondered whether victoria was making the distinction between the original brisa lamp and the new cnd uv lamp for some reason.

theres a few features on the new one that i paticularly like and i think are very good ideas. the carrying handle for one and i like the internal fitment that positions the hand correctly for an excellent cure.

I wasn't differentiating, I don't think?

I was under the impression that there were two lamps: cnd brisa and cnd shellac. Now I understand it's one and the same.

either way, my question was the CND Brisa VS Ez Flow Gel-It.
I wasn't intending on getting 3.

Yes, there's CND in canada... but not much in Montreal.

I know of one distributor, but they're OS (out of stock).
Locally, the twit thought she could sell a standard no-name single bulb 9watt to her clients for her Shellac:rolleyes: AND SHE'S AN EDUCATOR.
I tried to advise her differently.. she wouldn't hear it...

OMG  nice educator :)

It is not the same lamp, first was silver Brisa 27W (3 bulbs) for 4 fingers and thumb, a now with shellac was released new white lamp 36W (4 bulbs) 5 finger and other new features. Both cure brisa gels and shellac.

you are right victoria.
at the moment there are 2 lamps that will cure the shellac and the brisa,
the original brisa lamp and the new cnd uv lamp.
at the moment there is still stock of the original lamp left but i believe once they are all gone there will just be the one cnd lamp for brisa and shellac and further developments which is the new version i was talking about.
so at the moment you have 2 options.

hope i'm making sense.

OMG  nice educator :)
  • This same educator teaches 3 systems in one day with a diploma.
  • This same educator was not aware that not all 9w bulbs are NOT the same UV Output.
  • This same educator told me there was no such thing as "acid-free" primer (aka protein bonder).
  • This same EDUCATOR insists that she's NOT using Acrylic when she's doing "Tip-n-dip" and that it's a Silk Powder and NOT Acrylic powder (yet refuses to hand over the MSDS for said powder)
  • This same educator insists that UV Gel is better for the nails and NOT an acrylic....
  • She has no idea who Doug Schoon, Marian Newman or Gigi Rouse are.
etc etc... I could go on for hours.............. every time I walk in there for something I need last minute out of desperation... I learn that she's even more stupid than the last time I spoke to her.
She runs a rinky-dinky shop in our town, acts as a Technician, distributor and educator as well and she's a NINCOMPOOP!

This is what I'm battling against........... so when I pop on to Salongeek and I'm annoyed........ keep this in mind...

PS: she is also a distributor for CND products.............. yet doesn't seem to know anything about them...

You are MOST welcome! They were well deserved and you know how I can ramble.. it was a struggle to keep my post short and sweet lol
Despite our rough beginnings, you are my fav amongst my peers/mentors/inspirers (sorry Geeks:o)

And no, I'm not kissing your butt... but if it helps to get said Butt to Montreal, then I'll start layering the compliments like Creamcheese on a bagel

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but I only use the New Ezflow Gel it Alternative lamp and it cures shellac excellently and I have had NO, yes I said NO problems at all and my ladies love it. My lamp has never let me down yet. It has little drawer in the bottom to remove or lower for feet and you can 2 hands in at once. I can't afford another lamp! 'EZFLOW' It's brill!!!!

With education being of such poor quality where you are, Victoria, it's a minor miracle that you've come such a long way! They must be flocking to your home salon. Just hope clients appreciate the difference!

I WISH...... while I'm busier than most techs that try to eke out a living in this town (most give up after 6mths).. the NSS sure give me a migraine. Blue collar town means that they want to pay blue collar prices. Sorry, my stuff is 'top notch'... I refuse to charge cheap anymore.

While several of my clients know that in downtown Montreal where the 'good' (supposedly) salons are, they are double my prices in some cases and they KNOW they're getting quality service and product for their dollar with me... some of the less educated or more 'hard headed' just won't be convinced and are happy paying 25$ for red rings of fire.

As for the miracle........ the ONLY reason I know ANYTHING is all due to SALONGEEK and it's VALUABLE members who have so generously mentored me and kicked me in the ass when I needed it.
I have ordered books galore, read tutorials like mad and soaked up all the info that is here for the taking on this site.
(ok, maybe my stubborness and thirst for knowledge played a small part LOL)
If you hadn't already heard, I got sent home my first day of my L&P course for "knowing too much" LMFAO and on days 2 & 3, learned stuff from the advanced and from the art classes instead of the 'basic' course while the rest of the class learned how to glue on tips. hahahaha

Frankly, Salongeek oughta give out Diplomas because I certainly learned FAR MORE HERE than I could/have in Montreal and a SalonGeek diploma would have more weight in my modest estimation.

WHAT DO YOU SAY SAM? Are you going to give me an "Honorary" Diploma from the "School of Salongeek"??

nope, only fits one hand, but the new one means thumbs can go in at the same time with shellac.
