Can anyone recommend a good facial steamer? The last two Skinmate products i've had both cracked in certain places and started dripping. Just out of warranty period..

Hi @Crammer, I am only a student venturing in the big world of VCTC qualifications following quite a drastic career change, but I have recently purchased this one from PJS (PORT Portable Facial Steamer with Ozone). As I have only recently purchased it to practise my facial skills, I am afraid I am not able to offer a long-term recommendation, but I hope it's useful nonetheless.

I have also read here that some facialists/beauticians are moving away from steaming altogether, either out of practical reasons or preference. I can't comment on that yet!

Overall, my perception is that all the steamers I have investigated are the same two or three models, with slightly different imagery or grammatically creative descriptions depending on the website. I would love to learn more about this from someone with more experience.

Keep me posted about what steamer you finally land on!

Have a lovely evening,

Chiara

Many thanks for your input Chiara. I may even try one of the portable steamers you have opted for. Is the arm on it long enough to reach from the trolley to the centre of the clients face , or just to the side? I was really looking for something that would reach over if poss'.

Hi, thank you so much for your encouragement! If the steamer is placed at the same height as the coach you should be able to use it. It can't be too far though because the face should be at approx. 30cm from the steam to actually feel it. I've made a rough sketch, hopefully it's useful!

Thanks so much Chiara. I actually ordered one of these and it arrived today. I have to say that I'm disappointed with the quality of it (not a problem though) and think that the skin mate one is actually worth the slightly extra cost for another time. I'll see how long this one lasts...

Good to know for the future! If space wasn't an issue, I'd rather have a free-standing one but at the moment one more box, and my training and beauty stuff will have to start paying some rent! 😊 Have a wonderful day!
