Hi All,

After a conversation with a client she told me that when sun tan lotions first came out she got told by a pharmasist that each factor means you are protected for 20mins in the sun without burning!
So SPF 10 would mean you are protected for 3hours and 20 mins!
Has anyone else heard of this?
I cant see how this can be can be correct but would love to know your views/ thoughts.

Love Emma x:hug:x

i was told to apply suncream every two hours

Well I am not sure but can tell u I can use a factor 30 and still burn even applying every 2 hours ...u are also suppose to take into acount the star system too which I think is the uvb the highest stars being 5 which is the best ( u will c this on the back of the bottles) ......so if I have a five star rating and high factor appying regulary then I don't burn have done this for the last 2 years and has worked very well ....

It simply means you are protected x number of times (spf factor) greater that you would be without wearing it - FROM THE TIME OF FIRST APPLICATION - not subsequent applications! This is very important because people think they can stay out in the sun all day long by simply reapplying - but really is not the case. And obviously, each individual is different - dependant upon skin type etc - so what spf would be adequate for one, would not be sufficient for another. As a rule, SPF of no less than factor 50 should really be the rule, especially for face.
