Hello Peeps

Two questions......
1. Do you have to be a beautician to train in fake bake?
2. Is there anywhere in Essex that offers training with Fake Bake.

Ta! x

You don't have to a beautician or a beauty therapist to train in spray tanning.
If you contact Fake Bake they will be able to tell you where is closest to you. Some trainers will come to you xxx

Thank you for the advice. Need to start doing more then nails. x

Just a little advice though hun...how many solutions have you tried?
Don't jump into one brand just because it's the only one you have tried or heard about. I'm talking from experience. I started out with Solglo because it had won an award and ended up not completely happy with it. I tried loads more until I found the one I wanted but do you think I could get my clients to change!! God it was hard work because this was the only one they ever tried.
Also when choosing a company, look for what they have for you to retail and how good their customer service is.
Hope that helps you. It really is a good little earner! xxx
ps there are lots of companies out there that will send you free samples

Fake Bake provide fabulous training. You can call them direct on 0870 054 4455. I came away (with no previous beauty experience) feeling 100% confident and there was no hard sell of their products and equipment on the training, although I decided to go with Fake Bake anyway.

I must've bothered the trainer every single day for about 3 months after the training and she was incredibly helpful the whole time.

Fake Bake have won a multitude of awards, a recent one being for Best Tanning Product/Equipment at the Professional Beauty Awards in London (3rd March). Their spray tan solutions are very competitively priced and there's a decent profit margin available on all retail products.

In the last few months I've tried out several samples from many other suppliers, but I have yet to find one to make me change from Fake Bake.
Having said all that, I now do offer Tantrick's 5% for the very, very fair skins, but to be honest I haven't had much uptake (I think even my fair skinned clients want a more noticeable tan, but I'm still very happy to have it available anyway, and I like it on myself too).

For those clients who are looking for a really deep, dark tan, I'm about to start offering Booster Drops too.

Good luck with your new venture - I'm so glad I took the plunge and still love it xx

Hi I also trained with fake bake and did not have the same experience as sunspray. I e- mailed the trainer with a question she only replied after several more e mails and then she didnt offer any advice or guidance just a quote remember less is more! I phoned the head office to complain all they said was you need to speak with the trainer yeah fat chance she never answers her phone the customer service is absoulte rubbish. I have tried a few samples of sienna x on customers and the feed back is very good. I wish I had trained with them I am still not confident spraying arms I have had more advice from a few geeks on here than I got from the fake bake training.

I also agree, the customer service is absolute pants! And i dont agree with paying that huge amount they charge for an opening offer just to make my clients look like they have been sprayed with mud :irked: but thats just my opinion. I'm not fussed as I have never been asked for it.
Where abouts in London are you? I would be happy to help you with spraying arms. There's not really much to it huni xxx

Fake Bake is King!!!! ha ha ha ha. Isn't this so mad - I absolutely love Fake Bake, I honestly have lots of very satisfied clients and lots of repeat business with some fantastic feedback. I had a couple of problems with customer service right at the beginning, but it was quickly resolved and haven't had any problems since. Yet poor Cassi has had a horrible experience with them, and Kylie likens the company to underwear. Just another day in the world of the Salon Geek .... xx

I'm a bit confussed if the training was that good, why would you have to bother your educator everyday for three months???? Please don't think that I'm being funny...

Perhaps it was her own confidence level that needed boosting?

You are probably right here Susie as a lot of trainees need that "additional" support post training day...more so as a confidence booster type of thing...someone they can call up in times of needs.

This accessibility is crucial for training providers to be "available" on an ongoing basis

Thank you for all the advice. I think i will phone some of the tanning companies up and get my samples before making a decision on my training and then take it from there. x

Well 3 months and every day might be a bit of an exaggeration(!) but come on, even with great training, who comes away knowing everything there is to know about spray tanning? Even beauty therapists who've got lotion tanning experience find they need information and advice outside their formal training.

I've paid a massive amount of attention to learning all about spray tanning, lots of which was following my training, but I'm still adamant that Fake Bake taught me great basics which I've simply built upon ever since, with lots of fabulous help and advice from peeps on this site of course xx

I'm also trained in fake bake and even though I do like the product I have found their customer service to be absolutely awfull! I trained with them about 2 months ago and still do not have my own equipment! When I booked my training I was told that I could purchase my equipment on the day. When I went to do this I was told that they had sold out of spray guns and that they were waiting for the shipment from America to arrive which should be in about 4 weeks. 8 weeks later and I am still waiting! I have phoned them so many times and it constantly keeps changing when they are going to arrive. I have even phoned them this afternoon and have now been told that they basically have no idea when they are going to arrive!! It has now got to the point where I am not willing to wait anymore, I am seriously considering going with another tanning company. I feel like Fake bake has completely let me down! I have lost a lot of custom because of this especially with there being nice weather at the moment. There training was ok, but didn't feel like you got what you paid for because there was another 7 students and only one tutor who didn't even watch you do a full spray tan because she was walking around looking at everyone. I feel like I would like to do training again but I would probably do it on a one to one basis if that is possible. Hth.

Tantrick train all students on a 1 to 1 basis and the trainers are there for you after should you need them at any time, even if it is years down the line and you come up with a question you need help with,
customer service is great too,
and we are always around on here too

I know Sunquest also supply Fake Bake and they have quick delivery and they don't have a minimum order. Not sure if they supply the equipment too but might be worth giving them a call :)

Thanks for the info loubylou, think I will definately look into doing thiis. From what I have read on here Tantrick seem very highly recommended by you all! What is the best way of me finding out info on the course and prices e.t.c?

The Tantrick brand is very highly represented on Salon Geek and has many Salon Geek fans as a consequence. Hopefully Fake Bake may one day have such representation and could (well if I had my way) help with the queries and complaints described in this thread xx

Know what you mean SunSpray! I originally chose to do my training with Fake Bake because I liked the products and because they had won awards and were well known in the public, But I feel like I just have had no help from them at all with my equipment. Nobody at their Head office seems to know what is going on. I mean surely they must know when they will have their guns in stock! It has been over 2 months. I won't be the only person who is haveing this problem because other people will have been on courses since and will be in the exactly same situation! I just think it is such a shame that because of their bad customer service a lot of people have a bad view or experience with them, when they do have good products! I think you would be a fab representative for Fake Bake! Maybe you should get in touch with them.:)

hello, i have tried fake bake and i am not a lover of it. They were rude on the phone to me when i first called them, i got the impression that the lady didnt want to be there or helpful! I thought that the most reputable name were the best to use, how wrong was i, i now use LA Tanning, after a recomendation and there site address from a friend. The are quite established also, some great testamonials on the site, i called them expecting the same response as fake babe and i was wrong, the guy was so friendly and helpful. They sent me LA Disco which is the best solution i have used belive me i have tried so many. It is extremly easy to apply, does not have a odur and the finishing colour is lovely, the clients that i have used it on are all over the moon with it. a winner in my eyes
