I just did the Fakebake course before Easter and had my first client last week.

The tan went on lovely and client was very happy, I advised about aftercare etc..
Now though the client is not happy about how quickly if faded!!

She had it done on the Monday, I rang her Tuesday to see what she thought after showering..(Great loved it)...Then I spoke to her again on the Friday and she said that it had faded and was gutted, as it was great at the start as she did not have to wear make up for a couple of days..

I did tell her not to shower with certain products and to apply moisturiser etc...also explaining that it would gradually fade;)
She did however say that she was impressed with how it had faded even!

That is something I suppose, but I would like her to come back....any advice...or should I use a different product?????

I sampled quite a few tans before i settled on Nouvatan.
Fake Bake was the one tan that i got in without sampling it first. I had people asking for it so i got some in. Bad mistake! I found it never lasted more than about 3 days! I think people ask for it as it's a big name, a lot of people haven't actually tried it but they still ask for it. I didn't even use my bottles up as it just wasn't working for me. It's nothing you or she has done, it just doesn't last very long i'm afraid.

mine faded quickly too. but everyone loves to use it as its a good brand. x

There's a difference between a good brand and good marketing!

We shouldn't really be knocking a brand on the main boards whilst promoting another due to personal preference... after all it may prove not to be a solution problem at all.

LadyMcfoos im assuming that because you haven't mentioned any patchiness(either white bits or dark patches) that your application was good....

how much solution did you use...?
was this your first tan application.?.
was this your customers first spray tan application?
are you certain the customer undertook the correct pre and post tan regime.?
Have you spray tanned others..if so what was the longevity of their tans like?

Sorry for all the questions however very relevant to possibly gaining an insight into what went wrong before passing comment on the solution you used

It is a fact...Fake Bake does not last long.Everyone complained in my last salon and they ended up getting rid of it. Clients were saying they got about 3 days out of it.
It's certainly nothing you have done wrong chick

Thanks for the replies.

Collin, It was the rub on lotion no spray tan, sorry should have made that clearer.
There were no patches etc..and the client was very pleased with it.

I have used St Tropez persoanaly for years and even this seemed to last a big longer.

For the cream tan, try rubbing on a little bit more. It will last slightly longer but obviously will go darker. I do love the cream but i'm not a fan of their spray. xxx

I use Fake Bake in my salon and love it, I've got some real tanorexic clients and always stress if they really prep well how long it will last.... 7-10 days. It's good your client said it faded evenly, but I bet she still has white bits, unless shes done lots of exfoliating or lots of swimming in clorinated water. Recommend the Oil free Moisturiser of faux Glo to push it further.

:)

I test new treatments on friends and family 1st, my sister isnt high maintentence but really difficult to please and will always give me an honest opinion! Do it again on sum1 you know that way you can see your probs not doing anything wrong :)

I have used fake bake lotion in the past, and I only got 3days out of it but that was before I knew much about tanning, I showered with the dreaded dove did not moisturise, and shaved my legs the day after application eek, lol hth xx

Let's be honest no matter how good quality the tan is, it's fake,,, so it will fade, I find if I get 3 days good tan then im happy,,,thats with st tropez fake bake tantick la tan blahh blahh............. I then look at how it fades if it is dark it will be more noticible. I had client other week wanted dark tan, she was fair and light skinned so I advised a light golden tan,,NOOO she knew best so against my inner judgment I done her dark,,,,.and what happend,,,she complained,,faded awful etc etc,,I knew she would, but would she listen to moi who knnows best?? noooooo, she is an accountant I think next time she comes il tell her my hubby is an accountant an tell her how to do her job :p:D:D

I do really like the cream and for me, i'm happy with 3 days too but for clients paying for this service, it's understandable that they are not going to be too pleased. I do think that cream doesnt last as long as spray anyway.
Totally agree with you...too dark and it doesnt fade so good. I had my pale client have me spray her in 12%. Far too dark but she wouldnt listen. I told her it would fade awful and it did. She now want's to try 16% and she is ginger :grr:
As long as we warn them then it's their own fault. May I add that there is no way i will be giving into the 16% on this client tho lol xxx

I have a client who is pale and ginger and she insists on 16% also! She actually said it lasts longer! I sprayed her on Thursday and i saw her when i was out last night and it was a lovely colour :suprised:
A lot of tans do fade quickly but a lot don't. Mine last about 7-10 days.
I spray my hair stylist with 14% regularly. I sprayed her last Saturday and she wanted another one this Saturday as she was going out. She was desperately trying to scrub it off on Friday as it was still quite dark.
If you get the right solution then it should last 5+ days.
