Hi

I'm wondering how many CND users use Radical as their main use monomer.

I was trained with Retention, and have always used it, and to be fair I have no complaints with it. Recently I got some Radical and did my own nails with it, and I much prefer the look and durability of them. Since then I have done three clients using Radical, and every one of them has said the same, they look better and they are lasting longer. I was worried that I might experience lifting problems with Radical, but so far that hasnt been a problem.

I had intended to continue using Retention as my main liquid, and revert to Radical for clients who come back with multiple breakages, but I am now inclined to swap to Radical as my main liquid and revert to Retention to clients who come back with lifting.

What do you think? Does anyone else favour Radical, or should this really be kept as the aternative liquid when Retention doesnt suit the client?

p.s - I've also found that Radical makes you more disciplined with your mix ratio, is it just me??

Hi Michelle;

I too much prefer Radical to Rention+. The extra drying time allows me to sculpt and shape a better looking nail. Radical is the original CND monomer and there should be not problem with lifting is the natural nail plate is properly cleaned and primar is applied. I believe the extra time is actually a savings in time over the long haul for both the Nail Tech and the client.

Sincerely,
Jane

Actually, Solarnail and Contours are the original CND monomers.

Radical hit the scene in 1994.

I ADORE it.

I do not think there is any difference in the working time of either but I do think Radical has a beautiful 'look' that is subtly different.

It is very durable and long lasting as well as being used without primer. I have never ever used Radical with primer in the 18 years that it has been around.

can i use the same brush to try radical, that i normally use with retention? i wanna try it now.
i had both liquids in my college kit but i've only used the retention so far, i'm sure someone told me i can only use my brush for one liquid?
x

I have a lady who I have been practicing on and out of all the people her nails seem to kind of dry out and crack a bit do you think radical would be better for her or to use the acid free primer and stick with retention which I have had brilliant results with so far??? She seems to also get lifting but I know shes very heavy handedXXXXXXXXXXX

How does the final nail look different?

You've got me wanting to try it now!

You should not use the same brush for different monomers--the chemical composition is different, and you can get service breakdown.

I use both Radical and Retention+. I have several clients that are just really hard on their hands, and they do much better with the Radical; so do the ones with very thin nail plates (naturally thin, that is)--the Radical flexes a little more than the Ret+, so they have less lifting and cracking. I start every new client on Retention+, though, because I like the superior adhesion. But really, I get just as good adhesion with Radical. AND I use Moxie for quick repairs. I'm pretty laid back, and Moxie sets up just a little quicker than I like. :D

I received my ultra sculptor about a week ago, before ordering i specifically asked if i were able to use the same brush for all CND monomers and i was told, yes i would !

:confused:Im going to use radical for the first time is it ok to use it on infills when the original application was retention or should I remove and start over again!!?:!:

Yikes! Who told you THAT? That has never been the case; CND has always recommended using a different brush for each monomer. PM the Geek himself, or Geeg. They know. :D

sarahpoppy24, yep, its totally okay to rebalance with one over the other. The original application is cured, so there's no chemical interaction to worry about. :)

It is recommended that you use a different brush with different liquids. I have 3 brushes dedicated to 3 different liquids. It has always been CND teaching.

If you know who took your order then you can take it up with that person. As far as I am aware the order takers know the score but there are some new ones. It is always best to check with an educator or here on the site with a CND ambassador for answers to technical questions..

I've had a couple of clients who have had a nail break a few days after I did them, so do you think I'd be better to try radical?

Thanks for that il let you know how I get on got a spare brush so can use that XXXXX:hug:
