Fears - What's yours?

I have just been sat chatting to some people in my chat room after I had finished my radio show and we were talking about fears.

I was saying I have a fear (increasingly becoming irrational) of Midgets... and Identical Twins (only when I see them together, one of my friends is an identical twin, but I have never seen him with his brother!). I don't know why but these two kinds of people just scare me, totally!

I have no idea, and I have nothing against them, I am just scared.

One thing I do have an irrational fear of is DADDY LONG LEGS (Crane Fly?), the pointless flying giant spider thing that just randomly drops on you *shudders*

Anyway, whats yours?

I have a fear of heights, nothing unusual there, but (and this is the good one):

I have an irrational fear of sandwiches!!!!!! I shall explain. I cant go near a sandwich that has been buttered. I'm actually feeling a bit sicky just thinking about it while typing. The thing is, its not that I dont like butter, I'll happily eat buttered toast, buttered hot cross buns etc, and its fine if I have butter with other things, eg jam and butter, BUT..... give me a sandwich that has been buttered and it makes me goose pimply and I start gagging!!!!!! Yep, I'm a strange one.

My fear would be thunder and lightning - although for some strange reason thunder scares me more

Same here, ive been known to cry and shake when it thunders & lightens...it just roots me to the spot.

Spiders...arggghhhhh hate them hate them hate them, once jumped out of a moving car when a spider dangled in front of me:Scared:

Snakes....just the sight of them brings me out in a sweat

..never heard of fear of sandwiches hun !!!......my fear is the normal,spiders,insects,bee's....YUK !!!!....

I'm with you on the daddy long legs, what are they all about, I hate them.

Also scared of heights, have never been able to swim because I have a fear of water, not in the not liking to wash way, lol
Just in the not liking to have water splashed in my face way, but in have bitten the bullet and booked swimming lessons, they start soon...eekkk.!!!!

Pigeons freak me out, I hate it when there are loads and they cross your path. They also poo everywhere too. smelly birds

Mine is huntsman spiders. Once I was lying in bed reading and this hugh hunstman ran across the wall. It gave me such a fright I almost cried - and almost ended up in hospital from a near heart attack.

I am scared of really old people ~~hangs head in shame~~
I don't know why but I am....
a few years back I went to an old peoples home to visit my childrens great nana...omg it was so scarey...I could have ran out of there screaming in a shot...

I know its not a "normal" fear...and I have no idea what scares me..
a lot of my family have worked in care homes, and also one of my best friends..

Mabey its that I am scared of getting that way one day..
We watched secret millionare the other day,
It left me in tears.Partly because I was scared of all the old people featured on it,
Partly because I felt so sorry for them once strong independant individuals, now cant even use the toilet or feed themselves,
and partly because I feel so out of order for being scared,
When If I wasn't I could mabey visit elderly homes as a voulenteer, and shine some sunshine their way...

Then I also have all the normal ...spider etc...and OMG ladybirds I could easily burst into tears and shakes at the sight of a nearby ladybird,

I have had a few geeks on msn last year me on webcam while fighting mammouth spiders lol...thats where my BIG hungry rottie comes in handy :lol:

But I LOVE thunder and lightening, I get really excited !

Lol, I thought I'd get lynched to be fair hehehe.

If I am totally honest, I get freaked out if a boyfriend is shorter than me. I couldn't date my boyfriend 10 years ago when he first asked me out because he was significantly shorter than me, but he's now the same height as me so all's good.

Oooh Road/Street sweepers scare me too, them big ones where the men drive them. A man chased me outside the train station in manchester one night after a night out on one... drunk and scared... not a good mixture! :lol:

If Im in a crowd of people, say there is only 10 people in the crowd, it feel's like there's 50, and all there voices sound slurghed, like there all drunk! I have to get out of the situation a.s.a.p. or I end up having a PANIC-ATTACK!!

OMG- How on earth am I going to cope when I go to the olympia show next month!!
think it will be the case of DEEP BREATH'S and BROWN PAPER BAG'S!!

Aww, did u manage at Olympia? I only seem to notice crowd's when I am in a lift or something which I hate anyway (I tend to avoid them or if they are empty I sit on the floor lol!)

I think it's about ' not being in control of where I'm going '.

ok i have a couple....first one isnt really a fear but a dislike.... i dont like putting my face in water either in a pool or under the shower.. ill wash my face but will go around my eyes as i dont like shutting my eyes.. i think its a control thing....

next is crowds...if im moving and they are all moving my pace im ok but if im still or they are sitll i cant handle it i get panicy and feel shut in..

next is the fear of balloons popping.... i will not blow them up i will how ever tie them up but i dont like being around them in case they pop... wierd i know

I used to have a really really irrational fear...(still have it a bit but just about got over it lol) I went through a couple years of my life being absolutely terrified of medicines...not injections...just the actual medicine whether it be in tablet form or liquid it didnt matter..but any kind of medication/drugs...the thought of it inside me id have major panic attacks...to the point where i couldnt even take a paracetamol or even a herbal tablet lol also my health...at the same time i became like a hyperchondriac thinking i had all sorts of things wrong with me...i couldnt even stay in the same room as someone having a convo about an illness...id actually have a panic attack! somehow i got over it all eventually and its been a few years since i had a panic attack now thank god lol

I find thunder and lightening fascinating to watch but rarely watch it as im normally cowering in a corner somewhere saying my preyers!..lol thats frightening cos its way out of everyones control!

I used to work in some boarding kennels for a couple of years and i spent alot of time outside and in the woods...which i loved..i knew there were hornets about but i never saw one for most of the time i was there but in the last year i was there i started seeing the odd one or two...then it got the point where i would see one or two everyday...one seemed to swoop at me everytime i went into the woods...im sure it was the same one out to get me every single day! lol I know that before i started working there the forest people had to come and chop down a tree cos there was a hornets nest in it..near to where i worked as well so basically i ended up dreading going into work and feeling really frightened for fear of being stung to death! lol :irked:

mine are stray dogs,my god !!!! Ive walked out of my way to avoid them,they send this really wierd feeling through me,they scare me to death,, probably because i was attacked when about 4 years old and had to be taken to hospital by a copper.

Also if i see worms in the garden,ill jump around like a mad women posessed,they make my skin crawl,cant even watch them on tele,, other bugs im cool with

Ive also a fear of deep water,hence why i cant swim dont like it on my face either in a shower,feel i cant breathe

I have a huge fear of swimming in deep water, so that I dont know what is under my feet, we went swimming once and a wave came and swept me out a bit, fine until I couldnt touch the bottom, I was hysterical, crying screaming, Im a trained lifeguard, so this shouldnt have been a problem, Im a really strong swimmer, but it petrifies me!

The other one is tunnels that go under the water, we are Liverpool fans, so go up to Liverpool a bit, the way hubby likes to come home is through the tunnel, I beg him not to but he thinks my fear is silly, until last time, we had to stop just as we were coming through it, I couldnt breathe, I was sweating, it was awful.......needless to say we wont be going through it again!
