hi ive just done an infil on my friends nails and wish i hadnt :Scared: was filing away and when i finished filing not just 1 but 3 on each hand id really filed her natural nail looked red and a little sore i have never done this before so dont understand why i was so arr with myself one for not noticing as i went along and 2 for making her nails red even though she said they werent sore they looked it i must of been holding my file an odd way i know i havent done infil for a little while but that no excuse im so angry at myself  xx

What grit file were you using?

try not to be so hard on yourself, weve all done something like this you just have to learn from it.
when i was at college the girl i was with made my skin bleed on every finger, they were so sore but i couldnt even soak the nails off as they stung so much.then i remember when i went back for my assessment she was doing her mums nails and she was still doing the exact same thing,it was because she was holding her file wrong but she soon learnt and was more aware after her mum shouting at her and the teacher coming over to correct her, lol.xx

I did the same on my bestest friend's pinkie when I was training. I hadn't realised until she told me in all innocence how painful her finger was a few days later. I felt so bad.... but it ensured I never did it again. And she's forgiven me!!

Hey hun
Try not to be so hard on yourself, we,ve all done something like this at some point, learn from your mistake and move on, think about your file control and the type of grit you are using on the nail plate.

dont worry hun...it happens...sometimes we have great work days and some are just horrific! I did an AWFUL AWFUL french manicure the other day and was losing the will to carry on after...but the next day my manicures were brill!

:) keep smiling xx

Hey, we all have bad days, you know what you have done, learn from it and move on and don't beat yourself up about it.

I'm so glad you want to keep on learning, a lot more than many do xxx

I'm sure most techs have had this happen, particularly in the early days of their career . . . no it's not ideal but it does happen. Don't beat yourself up about it, learn from it and move on.

Keep your chin up hun, :green: I guess we have to have bad days to learn from or we'd never get anywhere!

D* xXx

hi just like to say thanks for replies i feel bit better now thanks ive read and re read tutorials so hope that my next infil will be so much better with no red xx

Hiya,

When you are maintaining your nails/lift etc..do not file accross the lift, file underneath it/below it and try not to tilt the file as this can be razor sharp..keep your file flat with long gental strokes..this is why you are having contact with the natural nail.

Good Luck

Jenx

Let us know how you get on with your next one and try not to worry yourself. As the others have said you know what you have done so you can correct it next time
