i went to a new client 2 day. shes was up visiting her son and family ,so they thought they would treat her to a pampering. i know the daughter in-law well as her sister used to do nails but shes changed careers. anyway , i had down a manicure and pedicure with french polish on both ,but when id finished with both treatments the lady had changed her mind about the polished french she now wanted gel so i did that. i charge usually for the pedi-mani cure treatments £17.50 and my french gel £20 ,but when i added it up i thought oh my god thats £75. so i took £10 off ,shes really happy with everything (only had one problem with ridges on 2 nails ) but im still feeling guilty i thinks because shes a oap :irked:

Hello there:)

I dont think that you have anything to feel guilty about at all hun:)
You spent alot of time doing your treatments which are specialised, and you obviously travelled to her. It sounds though her family paid for the treatments anyway!
You gave her a discount which was a lovely thing to do, and something that a salon would not do so I think you are worrying about nothing my love:)
What you have to remember is that it took you alot of hard work and money to train to your level and you are entitled to be paid accordingly. She did not have just one simple treatment she has 2 which consisted of using specialised products (gel etc)
The lady was very happy with everything so you obviously did a grand job:)
Please dont worry, you deserverd every penny:hug:

I agree, you have nothing to feel guilty for - they invited you to come and do the treatments and it's how you make your living, they were lucky you gave any sort of discount, as you really weren't obliged too :)

To be honest I include a mini manicure as part of my Gel overlay treatment....

What did you include in your mani / pedis?

It is not advisable to proceed with a gel overlay if the nails could possibly be swollen due to water absorbtion - i.e if you soak hands / feet in your pedis / manis.

Just re-read that - lol - didnt mean to sound nasty or anything, just the way I type :D

I think you need to look at it again...
it was a treat for her from her son and family, therefore she didn't pay for it.

Sweetheart, you must not get yourself into a stress about it, you're in business, they knew how much it would be... you have to remind yourself that you're in the business to make a living and not to be a charity, OAP or not

hi thx for your reply ,i did a full pedi-mani and i was going to give her a polished french but she changed her mind to the gels so i couldnt do anything about it i just made sure that all products were wiped off her nails before i did her french gel ,ithink i just worry to much as iv only been mobile since beginning of may and il need to stop taking work home with me :smack:lol

Guilty......some of these pensioners have money stuffed everywhere, under mattresses, in teapots etc....lol

exactly what i was thinking jaydee!!!

plus aslong as you have mentioned or they are aware of how much things cost before they have them done you have absolutely nothing to worry about!!

costing is there for a reason; stick by your pricelist cause if you dont it makes it difficult if she rebooks ... do you give discount again or do you feel guilty for charging full price?? cause there wasn't really a reason for discount in the first place other than she was a bit old and you felt sorry for her!! lol!!
which you cant really tell her!!

I used to be exactly the same as you and sometimes in my head i still cringe when they owe a lot but if you discount for the sake of it your cheapening your rep plus people may start to take the p1ss

it will get easier hun!! xx

lol - sounds like I need to toughen up! lol  x
