Hi just wondered if someone could help me please!! Just recently started doing fibreglass and silk nail extensions, they were going ok but the last few seem to be breaking a few days after doing them!! I trained with united beauty and star nails so using their products, but the retailers had run out of activator spray the last time i went and got a SINFUL activator to use instead! Do you think using products from different companies will effect the nails?? I don't know whether or not i have just not used enough resin before i have activated or what is going wrong?? Can someone please help....any ideas???

Have i done something wrong why is no one replying?? Not used this before!! AHH

Oh thanks, I prep nail etc, put tip on either white/natural then fibreglass over whole nail, fibreglass stress strip, add fibreglass resin (using nozzle), activate then a layer of brush on resin and activate, file down, clean nail and add another part layer of fibreglass resin on lower half of nail and activate and another coat of brush on resin and activate then file down etc. I don't think i am putting enough resin/fibreglass resin on before i activate....what do you think?? I use star nails resins and usually their activator but this time i have used this Sinful activator, don't know if it would make a difference or not??

oh sorry, had some break from free edge down middle of the nail?? Also others chip or break across tip??

Ok, this sounds like its the stress area that needs a tweak, also length of the tip for the client, also how many clients has this happened too? try applying more fibreglass resin to the stress area or apply small strip of silk/fibreglass to the seam of the tip iykwim :)

Thanks, it has only happened the last couple of times (since i started using this new activator?) It has happened to 2 people but the nails i have done before on 1 of them always stay on ok (did silk last time on her though?) The stress strip I apply is always used across the seem of the tip, perhaps just need to use more resin and activate.
I heard that if you don't use enough resin they can be brittle, is that right??
Any other suggestions??
becky :)

Yes using not enough resin can cause brittle nails, using the incorrect activator could also cause this if this has happened since using this other activator, or client could be heavy handed or abused her nails by not following your aftercare.

How about using clear Quattro as a topcoat as this might help your heavy handed clients, just cure under a 9watt uv lamp.

Yes, I will get the old activator back again first i think. I was putting a quattro gel top coat on the nails and under a UV lamp but found it was chipping??

Any suggestions why that would be chipping??

I did this same girl nails before and they have been fine?
