I am just wondering how many of you file back product to thin out and remove lifting or soak off and do a new full set.

I cant remember the last time i soaked off.. i never ever soak my own off and only do so on clients only if they request complete removal.. and thats only happened once..

Do you think that at some point removal is important? no not so they can breath, but just for the health of the nail plate?
When i walked away from my cert 11 soaking was part of my future job description, but it seems the need for complete removal just doesnt exsist anymore and wondered if anyone else felt the same?

well chell i`m like you I never really soak off just file thin.I can`t remember the last time I soaked mine off but the next time will be today!!!!lol:)

I am doing more and more re-balances latley whicc is FAb for me, as I am getting soooo much better at them now,
I dont stress anymore lol,

But I also do quite a few soak off's
I have one client who has hers soaked off every 3/4 weeks and a new set applied,
I have explained to her all of the pros of a rebal, and cons of regular soak off's, But shes having none of it,
She likes her "new sets"
So I have done my part, I can force her to have a rebal..its her choice,
Shes my hairdreser so dont wanna push too hard...or she might give me a skin head lol...

If it is a pink and white I would be happy to re-bal all of the time to get them to the stage of NNO,
But, if it is a glitter set or custom blended colour,
I prefer to soak off so I can check there is nothing going on underneath the product
xxx

Oh and I always soak off my own :o its easier for me than having tonnes of file cuts on my right hand !

I prefer to file but there are clients who wont give you a chance to show them that a rebalance can look like new:rolleyes:
I soak mine of because I tend to change them every week and can't be bothered to faff about:smack:

I personaly prefer to file down and thin out and re balance BUT like emmsy i has some clients who every 3/4 weeks like them soaked off and a new set.

I have one client who would have a new set every week if i allowed lol she hates it and panicks when she sees her natural free edge appear, she has natural so its not as easy to do a back fill as it would be if P&W

I always soak mine off but once a set is on i like to get a good 5 weeks out of them and i can easily achieve this by buffing slightly in zone 3 to make sure the product is as flush as poss, yes you can see the regrowth of my own nail but i just place a full colour of varnish over then

I guess you could say when it comes to my own im quite lazy in applying a new set :irked:

Most of my new clients think that ya HAVE to soak off, and not do a rebalance, thats only because a local sunbed shop does nails (white tip, clear powder) and they can only do full sets!!

I never ever get asked for a soak off, my rebalances are like new sets anyway!

I am always soaking mine off so i can try something new. I try not to soak off anyone else's i don't have many real clients yet mostly friends. I am looking forward to being busy and having clients coming back for rebalances and have them looking good as new.x

Well i do a lot of re-balances but i also like to give them a new set about every 2 months after refills and re-balances

I don't see removal as being an option unless that's what the client wants, with the high-end products we have available these days we don't have to suffer product breakdown, yellowing product or brittleness etc etc so by regular rebalancing our clients should walk away with a set of enhancements that look as good as new every time.

If the right techniques are used then I see no reason to remove enhancements for the health of the natural nails, they should be in the same or better condition as they were when the client first came to us.

I voted no to soaking off :wink2:

hi littlegrohl
I perfer to soak off because I believe that damage could be done t the nail bed if filed too deeply. I am going to stick to soak offs :)

To rebalance you file product not natural nail so there is no nail damage..... If you're filing out lifting you will still be filing product not natural nail. If you're damaging natural nails at rebalance time you need to look at your technique IMO.

I prefer to file thin, then do my rebalance. Especially on my own nails, I hate the feeling of acetone on my fingers, plus I think it make the nails too soft.
If a client wants full removal, I still file quite thin, then soak off the last bit, it is quicker for me.
A good rebalance should look like a new set if done well, not always as easy as bit sounds, I try but mine are not always as perfect as I would like, But the client seems so happy, are we just fuss pots???
Lotsa luv x
