hi i have recently been given some brand new files from a friend as she no longer wants to do nails, they were all individually sealed and that, but she doesn't know what the grits and i can't tell, is there anyway to tell the different grits? they do not have any brand names and she can't remember where they came from, please help.

thanks
kylie

The grit size really doesn't matter. If you are a nail technician then use the coarser files to debulk and the smoother ones to finish. You don't have to know the grit size, you can feel it.

cool as thanks, they feel quite heavy grit so would probably use for debulking as suggested.

there is one in pack that has a sticker which says it is 240/240 but i looked at my ezflow 240/240 and it looks too coarse could be wrong packaging i think?

Go by the feel because grit can be determined 2 ways.
Either how may particles to the square cm or the half inch and this makes a difference.

If it FEELS too coarse then your normal 240 grit buffer, then do not use it on the natural nail ... once it has worn down it may be suitable for the natural nail. Trust your instinct.

i thought that might be the case just wanted to check. thanks geeg, as always you have great advice on many a things.
this site helps me alot, i also have a board up on my all with tips that i have been practicing smile lines and wow what a difference a few weeks of hard practice makes lol
