Hiya

I'm doing my Biosculpture training at the moment - quite happy with everything except filing the sidewalls.

I tend to either overfile them, or else get overcautious so they end up with flared out edges by the time the gel is on them.

I know the THEORY about how to do it, just dont seem to be able to crack it in practice.

Anyone got any hints that might help me?

Thanks
Helen.

Slightly taper the side walls before applying the gel, then when you have done the white gel, they won't look wide. Just don't taper too much or they will be wonky.

You also need to make sure you keep your file straight when filing the side walls, then they will be straight.

I tend to have this problem too, will try tapering slightly next time. Anyone else offer any other tips?

it may be the matter of filing technique

use the "knife" with "spoon" and "fork" its difficult to me to explain in english but these are the names of techniques i was taught

imagine how you cut meat with knife and thats how you sholud file side walls

think of how you hold a fork to file from apex to the side of the nail

that's how you get really nice side walls and beutiful hairline without overfilling

try to use less abrasive file and try to gradate them

i hope i helped

use a file that is stiff, so that it doesnt curve round as you sweep it down the sidewall.
keep your index finger down the side of the file to support it and keep it on track.
use only a downward motion to do sidewalls.
keep the file paralel to the nail groove so that the tip is a continuation of that line.
i too taper the tip in slightly to allow room for the product and still have a sleek result.

why not ask your teacher first ?
