After years of deliberating, trying to justify the cost and putting it off saying 'i dont need it' i have signed up to complete my HD brows training at the end of june, CANNOT wait now. Hope it lives up to my expectations!!

Oh good for you :) ive always been torn about training in HD i trained with Nouveau in Lashes, LvL & Nouveau Contour but feel i still need it in my life lol let me know how u get on and how you feel about it after training :)

I would also love to hear how you get on after training as it is something that I wold love to train in but slightly put off by the cost! I hope it goes well :)

I'm doing the course in august and can't wait!!! [emoji2][emoji2][emoji2] Are you doing your course in yorkshire? Wondering of any recommendations of places to stay??

I have had hd on my mind for the last year. Was just about to book the course & then changed my mind. I decided to go with a Kim lawless course instead.
I know most who has done it has said it has been worth their while & it's been good for business but I still cannot justify the price of the course for something we essentially do already. I'm pretty popular for brows & I cannot see my regular clients paying extra for HD & I've had my fellow beauty therapist in another salon tell me that some of her clients have got hd done & come back to them for wax & tint as they found it did much the same job & a lot of the look is makeup.

Saying that i still would like the train at a later time but just wasn't for me at the moment.

Good luck with your course x

I totally agree with all of the above - it was the design part of HD that I was most interested in - I'm a MUA now but still do lashes and brows.

I've also had HD and then did return for wax and tint only - recommended by the therapist!

I also wonder whether anyone would honestly admit that it wasn't worth it, after paying SO much money for HD training - all who have been trained must feel it's in all their interests to maintain the brand, and say it's still the only way, and it IS worth the cost.
Will we ever get an honest answer lol x

If they did a course around the design aspect without the other "6 steps" I would definitely pay for that.

I'd also happily pay someone who is HD trained to train me in the DESIGN ONLY step - any takers- please pm me.

Thank you

Personally for me, it was worth every penny but that was because I had only gone on very cheap brow courses previously and I was useless at Brows. I knew that the HD brow course would really make me better and it did, i'm 100% better now. However, if I was good at Brows begin with I would never have bought into it for the brand alone. I think that would be a waste. I trained with them for the skill not the brand. I am considering dropping HD as a brand only because you have to patch test 48 hours prior to each treatment. Even on existing customers. I don't think that's a good idea. if anything I think it's a massive inconvenience especially when you've got a huge client base and it's over exposing people to tint.

I can't fault HD for their training, Its the best I've had in beauty.

X

An honest reply - thank you so much Flying Beauty x

I am a HD stylist. I found the course a bit of a let down to be honest and felt like I learnt the basics but kind of had to teach myself once I left. What is great is that the brand has sold it's self and I have made the money back easily so it was worth it and the products are lovely too. X

Im booked to do the course in august too! (3rd & 4th) maybe we will be on the same course :)

Worth every penny. I made the money bk in under 3 months. It's 100% not just a tint and wax. So far... It was the best training iv had and I mostly specialise in brows now. I only work 3 days and this week iv done roughly 15 sets. If you'd like to know anything pls feel free to pm me. X

Flying beauty, did you check your own individual insurance re having to patch test everyone every time? Might be worth checking ;-)

I'm with the guild but they normally advise us to follow trainers instructions xxx

I can't think of anyone in their right mind that has trained in HD's and spent their hard earned money doing so that would be willing to teach someone else who hasn't done so the so called 6 step design process. Why would you?

I appreciate that you are a make up artist but there is a lot more to HDs than just the make up, for some people you don't even need to apply make up..

I was already very popular for brows but decided I wanted to take it to the next level. I do a huge amount of HDs and have made my money back many many times over. What you have to accept is that you are absolutely paying for the brand. I have done two courses with Kim and they have both been fantastic but for me HDs was the way to go with brows.

It is a hefty amount of money to part with and you have to be able to justify it, I don't know anyone that has trained and now regrets it. I am doing my HD Pro course on Friday and I can't wait.

Does anyone who has done the course recall that during training we were told that the patch tests weren't a guarantee that a reaction would not occur as the patch test did not test for all reactions?

On the course I did this was not mentioned. We were only told that if we couldn't patch test not to tint and charge less as it wasn't the full treatment.

I have patch tested myself twice and have not had any reaction on my arm but do react badly when it is on my face. I have tested this twice now and my reaction is bad.

I have been in contact with HD and they have told me that this was explained during the course. It wasn't.

Hi
I'm not HD trained so this is only a general comment- I always patch test behind the ear. Skin is sensitive here and as close to face as you can get and not show x

I'm not HD trained, but it is my understanding they use 'colorstart' patch test's.
These are individual patch test's which are applied like a transfer, by the client prior to the treatment.
They are very convenient for both client and stylist, as you can post them out.
The negative is for ease of use, they recommend placing in the crease of the elbow, which is not as sensitive an area as on the face.
I can see no reason for them not to be used behind the ear, but obviously they would need someone to do it for them.

The 'other' negative to Colourstart is that it will only test for a reaction to PPD. If someone has an allergy to other ingredients, it won't pick this up.
I'm assuming that they do this because PPD is more likely to be the cause of a reaction. However, if you get the client who reacts to one of the other ingredients (that it doesn't test for) you'll probably be pretty p*****d off!
