Hi geeks:)

Im finnaly at the point where Im confident enough to start working on the public (no lifting, good shape, nice smilies etc..) but I cant seem to find clients at all.

Ive posted ads over and over on a few sites and NOTHING. Any suggestions???

I feel like Ill never progress unless I start working on people almost daily. Right now I do maybe one person a week and its been like that since February. Im quite happy with my progress considering, but it still takes me 1.5 to 2 hours.

Have you tried the models required social group on here? Or the salon guinea pig site?

Well Im in Canada, I assume its mostly for UK on here...

When I first started out, I went to large shops and chose a couple of people working there (made sure they were full time and working out the front) and offered them a free full set and one free infill.
I think I had about six going at first. Working in busy shops they all got seen and was asked where they got their nails done.
A few years on, I'm fully booked three months in advance!
Be patient, you'll be fine!

Yeh as above. Get your name out there. If you need models get sets on all family and close friends. Get them to refer people to you. If you are on facebook then make an album of your work, free advertising and lot of networking if you arent on there make an account with albums of your nails. What about bridal shops or fares. The local advertiser magazine. Make sure you drop into conversation what you do when out and about (keep pis on your camera or phone to show people)!! Put leaflets and posters in corner shops and supermarkets. Ask friends if they could put up a poster or hand out some cards at their work place in return for a discounted set. If anyone ever mentiones nails pipe up and say I do them!! Hope this helps. Good luck xxxx

Thanks geeks:hug: I guess Im still nervous at times too because of the time and they arent FLAWLESS.

I had a girl today asking me to go to her place, I dont really have an interest in the mobile thing, it never appealed to me. Im wondering if I should go though since Im just starting:|

i like the idea of offering to do nails on ladies who have their nails on display all the time. I'm trying to get more customers at the moment as i too have a client per week & Im dying to try out more designs etc....and gain more experience.

Do you have something like vistaprint over there? We can get 500 business cards for not much money printed really well. You could get some cards printed up with 'Nail models required in the **** area, please call......' or 'Staff discount, Full set of nails £**(cost to you, minimal price maybe) with this card, please call......'

Or you could print them yourself.

Ask someone you know in your local supermarket/flower shop/pub etc to put a pile in their staffroom. I have a stack of staff discount cards in my local asda price and I get loads of business from the girls there, AND loads from the customers who have commented on the checkout girls nails.

Alternatively, if you want something a little different, get yourself a tee shirt or apron printed up, with either 'nail models required, please ask or call....' or 'nails £**please ask, or call....'

Or put a sign in your front window asking for nail models. Maybe your neighbours don't even know you are doing nails!

Alas I haven't had time to do an international Salon Guinea Pig site yet - but I will do in due course hopefully :)

I know that feeling, I want to practice but don't get the people or customers  The nail trainer hands are ok to a level but nothing like working on the real thing !!!

I agree!! I made some cards on Vista print for cheap so hopefully that helps. I love the idea of getting a few ppl from stores to have free sets but Im just waaay to shy to ask them:irked:

Next time I go for an infill Im getting some sparkly color. I find when I wear bright sparkly colors I get more comments on the nails.

Thanks for all the advice geeks:hug:
