I have been in the hair and beauty industry since 1995 but on the hair side of things. Only ever had beauty treatments done on myself. Anyhow, cut a long story short, after being let down by a beautician, I thought, "sod it, I can do this", so I enrolled into a private college. I have since finished, Basic manicure, pedicure, swedish massage, facials, indian head massage, waxing, eye treatments. I have loved doing it and had lots of guinea pigs come forward, especially staff :)
Well I had my first bikini wax in yesterday. I have to say I did feel a bit nervous, only because I didn't want to hurt her etc. Well it turns out it was her first one too. Obviously I didn't let on that it was first paying bikini. Good thing about getting older, people assume you have been doing it for years:eek: It went really well, and she is booking back in for her next after her hols, yippee.
I then had an underarm, lip wax in followed by the hardest ever eyebrow tint. No eyebrows to speak of. But that went well too. As in the client was very pleased. I did suggest she would be an ideal candidate for semi perm, eybrow makeup.
So this old dog, 45, is so glad that I took up the challenge and look forward to a few more years of learning the trade.

Thanks, my favourite drink :) Have put the thread into smaller paragraphs, just being lazy to do it correctly in the first place!

Congratulations! It sounds that you rock!

I have returned back to the beautyindustry after a pause of 15 yrs. I am now 46 and opening my salon this week. Age certainly is an advantage, it brings credibility. Also life-experience is good to have when talking with clients.
