So i heard that there is a new type of nail tip that are flared so that it is easier to do flared acrylics, but they are not called flared does anyone know what they are called?

not heard of those, however i have heard that some techs are using well less tips upside down to create the flare shape.

I'm not understanding the appeal in this type of nail...

Dear God what next??

What other horrendously ugly shapes can they think of ??

How about the "Parrot's Beak"?? A tip that curves right under the finger ... wouldn't that be stunning?

Or maybe we could have "the unstructured deformed nail" with a lumpy bumpy surface that looks like it has been mangled in a machine?

What is up with people wanting this flared unnaturally revolting looking nail shape?

the "new" look is called the "sail nail", (I just invented it right now), you put them on sideways and vertical ...... such a pretty look.

They also help you swim faster. :)

Damn Carl you blew my design idea right out of the water - I was keeping that under my hat for when I am trained so I could take the world by storm!!!

I do read an American based forum though and according to the ladies there, "flared" nails are very popular in the Latin American salons and Southern American cities?? I don't personally see the appeal of them as they look bulky, uncomfortable and farrrr too fake for my liking ( and even I like to have bizarrely OTT nails from time to time!)

why do people invent this way?
a beautiful set of nails shouldnt look false! we spend so much time pulling in those hips to make a nail streamlined
i saw a pic of these nails and they look like they were put on by a 3 year old

Pmsl sorry but this just had me in stitches thanks Geeg lol:lol:

They are putting the tip on upside down check this out http://www.beautytech.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=243361&sid=cc377eb2ce6559c97565417304e91fd7

wow they are ugly!!

maybe its so people can use their nails as spoons!!!! LOL

*whew* I thought I was the only one who found this style revolting.

Sail nail... lol I've seen a few of those out there...

Hmmmmm got to admit I really don't like these!! It's actually quite amusing all the replies saying how great they are!!

It is strange that some people like 'deformed' things 'just because they can'!

I know a deformed nail is not that extreme but wanting something so obviously ugly reminds me of those that have weird facial piercings and insertions.

In the job I do I've seen beyond weird and created weird but I do have a rule that mad or weird is OK as long as it is beautiful or at the very least beautifully executed.

Gigi, when can we have a master class in these 'interseting' shapes:smack:

I think this shape is horrible too!! But just a question for all you working techs. If a client asked you for this shape of nail, would you refuse to do it?? What would you say to your client?? Or would you bite your tongue and complete a set of nails that you're not at all happy with?

Not sure this is a very popular shape in the UK but just wanted to know what you would do it someone requested this type of nail.

I would refuse!!!

I would like people to advertise my work, and eventhough I sometimes don't agree with the colours or choice of nailart my clients wants, I know the overall structure, smile and length of the nail always suits the hands.

I don't think any of the flared nails I have seen have suited the hands, the nailart might have been great and the technique might have been ok, but the structure and over all look just don't do anything good for the hands in my eyes

Thats my opinion, I don't care what others do, but if they want that kind of nails, they have to go somewhere else...

whats really worrying is so many comments on the site THANKING her for the tutorial, and one saying that they cant wait to show her students,
her own halloween nails are gorgeous,

Can anyone really look at these nails without laughing? Seeing one nail is bad enough but can you imagine having a hand full of these? They would be catching on eachother and would get caught in every drawer and cupboard, car door and as far as making the bed and unloading the washing machine!!!

The link given is useful but when I look at this poorly created nail all I can think of is draw 2 eyes on it and it would look like a duck billed platypuss!!! :)
