My sister has gone and had a crash on her mountain bike and fractured her pelvis.

Problem is, she is due to join us in Spain for a holiday in 3 weeks time. Does anyone think she will be well enough by then based on experience. I know she will not be fully healed but we are hoping she can walk without the crutches by then and still be able to come on holiday. However she is travelling out to join us alone so won't have anyone to help her with bags if she can't carry them. She will be travelling home with us.

This happened on sat and the silly bugger stayed on a camping trip for another 2 days before going to hospital! She has been told she doesn't need surgery and to have total rest for 7 days initially. She is 41 next month and refuses to give up mountain biking!

So would anyone have any idea if she will be allowed to fly 3 weeks after the accident if she can walk un-aided?

We are all keeping our fingers crossed. She was planning to come out and surprise my parents who will be on holiday with us. We have been planning and looking forward to this for months!

Not sure if she will be able to fly the healing time is 6-9weeks.

Just been to see her and she is able to walk to the loo with crutches. She feels that most of her pain is from muscle strain due to the impact. Hopefully by 2.5 weeks she will be mobile enough to get on a plane but she will have to see nearer the time.

Just wondered if anyone had fractured their pelvis before and might have an idea of the healing time?

my brother is a surgeon who actually fixes these kinds of thing as he does hip, knee replacements etc..
im due to go into hospital for an injection for my back so i will ask him if you want as i am having the operation done where he works.x
i hope she gets better soon though.x

Thanks Tracey, that would be fab. :)

She was told it was a definate fracture and not a break and that she would not need surgery, just rest.

We would be gutted if she can't join us on holiday!
