Hi there!
I've been doing nail art for just over a year as a hobby. The kind of stuff you see at wah-nails. Ive posted my stuff online and got a lot of interest. Recently a PR company asked me if I would do nail art at events for them in London. I really want to do this!
My problem is, they asked for my hourly and daily rates. I have no idea what to say.

Also, I use acrylic paints, how would I transport and set these up? I was thinking of transferring them in lip balm pots? I've never seen it done professionally so I have no idea? Any other advice on set up and tools?

Ooo I'd be intrested in seeing some of your nail art. I love looking at nail art. Hopefully someone can be along soon tho. But like you say you could put the paints in little pots. But well done for u hunni I'd defo go
For it!! That's amazing xxxx

Hmm I don't think I would pot them in smaller pots. What if someone requests the same as her friend? Then someone else likes it too and wants that? You may soon run out. There are several threads on here for mobile nail techs storage etc. If it is just a one off I would get some clear plastic storage boxes and use them. Then you can turn them over to use to stand your paints, brushes, cleaner etc on.

It is quite a specialised skill. I would start at about £10 per hour personally. You effort requires above the NMW and you need to cover the cost of paint and brushes. Increase this if they are not going to pay your transport too.

Yeah the boxes would stack inside each other so really easy to bring more along

Your nails are amazing, I can't really help on what to charge but I think £10 an hour would be selling your skill short!

Love the alice in wonderland nail art :)

Superb!! They are sooo detailed and i wholly agree, £10 per hour is massively underselling your talent and skill xx

wow, when i read this thread i never imagined that you would be so good!!i am definitely in awe of your skill.

First you are going to need to set yourself up as self employed and get some insurance!! then i would say you need to charge a rate that would include insurance, product, travel and probably unsociable hours!!so at least £25 an hour. That is a unique skill you have hun so you need to charge accordingly.

good luck and dont forget us when you are rich and famous!!xx

Thanks for such good replies! Love the idea of the storage boxes! I can always bring back ups? I will look at those threads for sure!
Some of my nail art is here kokoro nails : a nail art blog by a nail polish obsessive

Oh my god!! You have a truly amazing talent! You should definitely be charging in the region of £25. I hope the day goes well!! Good luck! Xx

I recently bought a set of little pots that are attached to each other from an art shop. They cost £1.99. Hard to explain exactly but I'll try and post a pic in the morning so you know what I mean. xx

Wow wow wow....absolutely fab nail art...I've saved your page!!! Xx

Beautiful nail art! I think you should get yurself booked on a manicure course asap! You'll need some form of training to provide a servive to clients and gain insurance. Even if you are using regular polish and paint, you are using potentially dangerous chemicals on people and therefore need to know at least the basics. xxx
