French/American polish

Hey guys

Can anyone tell me the difference in application between the french and american polish technique please?

Hard to explain this 1 as some people do tips first, others do base colour first! Basically french is pink with a white tip american is a pale peachy colour with a white tip. Being honest though, ive never been asked for american, and when i do french i just do normal base coat white tip and top coat, looks more natural i find, only use the pink if the nail is stained etc x

I thought French was a bright white and American is a soft white.
