Hi everyone :)

I am thinking of doing a french manicure of myself but I cant for the life of me paint a white tip that is straight and not wavy lol is there anything out there like a sticker that I can put along my nail and paint a white tip?

Also sometimes I get a crack/split along the nail is there anything again like a sticker that I can apply to stop it splitting anymore? Also I would like to polish over it. I think Nails Inc do something but I'm not sure, just wondering if there is anything else that I can use?

Thank you :)

I know there are some type of curved sticker that you put on your nail and it acts as a stencil then you peel it off but i have to say i find them kind of things way to fiddly i think its all down to patience and sticking at it yourself!! HTH:green:

i have found this helps,a little base coat on tip , then add white/cream or any other colour , then back brush with brush dipped in remover to get perfect smile line, then add base coat all over the nail then top clear or pale pink. xx

So you apply the white first, then base coat, then colour, then top coat?

What remover is best to use? Also what type of brush?

Thank you

Fay: Do you know where I can get them? Or what there called?

Thank you

Thanks Ill take a look

firstly apply base coat to the tip.
then white tip, i tend to use orly softest white on tip.
i use sable brush dipped in nail polish remover to tidy,
then base coat all over the nail,
then your choice of top coat clear or i tend to use opi malaysian mist.
then clear top coat capping the ends
hope this helps. x

Practice and a nail art brush should help with this - I usually use Stargazer nail paint as the brush is really thin and straight, very easy to do on myself, even with my lefty! :green:

Thanks Jenniferlouise, I will try using your tips :)

Sorry, but are you saying that you want to apply enamel over a split nail? That is not going to save the nail at all. It is best to be repaired.

Yes that is what I mean, repair it with a nail plaster (Jessics Nails do them) and then I can apply polish over the top

Are you qualified in enhancements? If so, it is so much easier. :)

The best thing is to see a nail technician and let them repair with a piece of fibre onto the nail...it will seal in the split while it grows out.

I used to use sticker guides for french polish & they were a nightmare.

Try this www.frenchtipdip.com/.co.uk just type french tip dip into google it will show u x

Sorry but why not just do it yourself. I wouldn't want to be faffing with stickers or the like. How unprofessional does that look!

This is a basic skill that has to mastered. I used to hate french manicures but then thought, hell I do smile lines with l&p and have now never looked back, get over that fear and just do them, practice on anyone who will let you and tips too.

If you can provide a great french manicure, your clients will love you. :)

Hi baby11,

My french polish was very average until I learned many good tips from the nail geeks on this forum.

Firstly, get a thin brush to do your white smile. You can cut an old brush (cut into pointy V) or buy a striper brush.

Get CND Nailfresh and a sable (rounded) brush to clean up the mess.

And lastly keep practicing...

Thanks for all your replies guys, Nail Fresh keeps coming up a lot with the tidying up part so thats next on my list hehe

I will start practising soon

Ohh the worst things ever. I once tried them and made a right pigs ear! Wonky, and a ridge of white when I peeled them off, nasty nasty. Just keep practising.
