Hi geeks!!

I wonder if you can help a very confused geek. I have a client who's nails I have been doing for over 6 months. She is a very regular client having infills every two weeks without fail and I have to be honest they sit on her nails like a dream. Very rarely do they lift and if they ever do its the smallest amount in zone three. Anyway she was VERY NAUGHTY last week - she was due for a full set and instead of soaking them off she took them off herself. Dont worry I have lectured and slapped her wrists lol.

Afterwards She found her nails very sensitive (as you would if you pulled them) and you could see slight red marks where the tips were attatched. At first I recommended that we left her nails for a few weeks and just manicured them to regain the natural nails strength and for them to desensitize, but unfortunately she was going away and she nagged and nagged to have a full set.

I refused to apply natural tips due to the blending and said the only way she was having tips with myself was for me to use french tips. She was happy to go ahead. Anyway that was last week, I saw her today and she has an awful lot of lifting and I really dont know why.

I use Creative Retention + and I did all my prep exactly the same as I normally do with all creative products!!

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with this?! Any help would be fantastic thanks in advance!

can i ask out of interest why she was due for her soak off and new set?

dont you just rebalance

cant help about the lifting until we know where it was lifting?
on the white tip, at zone 3? etc etc

hopefully we can help you x

Hiya

If they are lifting from zone 3 then it has nothing to do with the french (white) tips. If they are lifting away from the tips then i would ask if you removed the shine from them.

Also you could have still used a clear/natural tip and not blended them.

Sometimes when nails are very badly damaged they wont make a good foundation for your product to adhere too.

She was having a full set ready for her holiday. She was having NNO and she does the same as a lot of my clients. When they get to a certain state usually every 6 months they soak off and have tips put on. Dont know why lol it seems to be a regular thing. She says her natural nails tend to discolour underneath (smoker ;)

Bit confused surely if i used a natural tip and didnt blend it you would see it through the acrylic :S!!!

It was lifting in zone 3.

Thank you xx

cnd performance tips in natural dont need blending,
im sure there are others too but cant remember the makes ,sorry

zone 3 lifting is not down to the use of white tips,
maybe you were less thorough on the prep as her nails were thin? maybe?
hth xx

There are some natural tips now that do not require blending and to be honest as long as the free edge of the natural nail has been removed there is nothing to see.

My clients have been having re-balances for years without a new set, so its not necessary to remove and start again.

Hmmmm I have read that before about clients never having a new full set. Don't you find they get grubby after a while!?

Thanks for your advice on my problem. The only thing is its happened on more client than just one and its only when i use french tips - I think i'll just stop using them!!! lol Going on an Ez flow course soon so i'll be a p&w gal then ;)

Thank you for all your advice

Nope....i can honestly say that each time they look like new.

Dunno if its cos i use a non porous gel....so no staining ect...??

i use cnd retention, l and p and rebalance all the time, grubby?? no way!!
each appt they look like new as angie has said, they eventually go from tips/scuplts to nnos, or if they particulary dont like their own nail showing behind i re sculpt, during the rebalance
hth x

Ah I use acrylic at the moment and for some reason about about 5 - 6 mnths they usually look a bit grubby. lol

what brand you using ...?

Creative Retention +

Mmm same as lotus, shouldn't be going grubby unless they are not doing there aftercare..??
