Advise please, I recently set up my own beauty room in january and doing very well. I recently had minx done on my feet and all my clients loved it and asked me to do it. A close friend of mine does it from home and doesnt want me to do it as she started it. we are different post codes and totally different clients. I would never poach clients as i dont need to. I just dont want to upset anyone! Help....

Oh for goodness sakes .. you have every right to offer Minx and she has NO right to ask you not to. 
She didn't start anything, Minx did. Just because she may have been the first does not make her exclusive. Just get on with it and offer it if you want to.

It's a no brainer to me - do it - if you are diff post codes she's not too close anyway.
I have enough people doing it close to me, but so what, we all have our own client base.
If she said you couldn't breathe because she does.........ok a bit dramatic I know, but if you are qualified & able to do it, then do.

Thank you so much. I know i should do it as madness when someone wants you not too. Ive helped many of my friends out with training in new products as i think product awareness is great. The more people here of things the more they want it.

Right, firstly she calls herself your friend? Then askes you not to do this? Bit selfish if you ask me. Friends are there to support each other arent they? Go for it, you'd be crazy not too, it would be different if you were taking her clients.

So if a salon up the road from her had a sign in the window saying "Coming soon - Minx!!!", would she go in and ask them not to do it because she's doing it? You can imagine the response she'd get.

thats what i was thinking. if its not you using it, it will be someone else. theres a lot of competition out there and we all have to deal with that.

And if she has a problem - you can tell her the positives of you doing it - you can refer clients to each other - thats how you can build clients and help each other.
I always wished I knew someone close(ish) who did bio gel so I could refer them when I was ill or on holiday or it was just not convenient for me. Hopefully she will come to appreciate this in the future.

I don't want anyone else in my town to do cut and blow dries...LOL lets see how that one would go down....tell her to dry her eyes and get on with her clients. its healthy to have something like this to keep you on your toes. your minx toes x

I would have thought having someone who shares the same interest would be very healthy for buisness, as its been pointed out - someone to pass on a client to should you be away for any reason
Not only that - dont you want to work on each others nails - abit of promotion could happen here
