I have a new client booked in next week, great :) !! But, she is currently wearing acylics and now wants gels. I am used to gel which buffs off and am perfectly happy in filing right down to the natural nail but I dont actually own any acetone to remove acrylics. Is it best to pop out and get some remover to soak off her current acrylic set or should I just file them right down - if so would putting gel over the top be okay ??

Before I new that she wanted hers soaking off she asked my how long would it take - I said a full set takes me 1 hour but now I'e read that soaking off can take upto an hour alone!!!

Please help,

You could just infill using your gel...thin them out...reduce the length if needed...and re balance as normal using gel. After a few visits the L&P would have grown off and she will be left with just your product on her nails.

It depends on whether her nails are in a good enough condition to rebalance or whether they really need to come off....... If she wants them off and a new set applied then you will need extra time (prob another hour), and I can't see that she would be upset by that, although I would ring her in advance and tell her...... Also, if she does want them off then get some product remover and soak them off.

You can rebalance L+P with Gel, just be aware there may be a colour difference between the 2 products until the L+P has grown out....

Thats great .... knowing I can buff and then use gel. I will ring her first tho just to make sure she dosnt want hers off. I dont know how long she has had them or what state they are in.

If there is a colour difference between the two show through a sheer polish? I have a gorgeous polish with a hint of pink and is really shiny and between you and me, detracts from any imperfections!

If she does want hers soaked off then I will just have to tell her it will take longer and get myself some product remover. I have said that I would do it for thirty five pounds, I think thats okay?

Thanks both of you, I'd be lost without this site! xx

Just have her come in an hour early. I am sure she won't mind. I think that she will be a lot happier with the new set of gels.
