I'm studying for my level2 Beauty Therapy but haven't done massage yet so was hoping you lovely people could help?

I'm going away for few days for my 2nd wedding Anniversary next week. We are going for a spa break at Butlins :) Included in the price we get 1 treatment. I'm having a bit of a dilemma picking and was hoping you lovely people may be able to help me :)

The options are a variety or facials or massage, pedicure or manicures. I don’t really fancy a facial or pedicure and shut my finger in car door a few weeks ago so manicure is not really good lol. So I’m thinking massage.

They have a few - I’m leaning towards the mud and salt body massage but have a few questions---

With full body massage - what exactly is massaged? I'm a size 24 and don’t want to be laying there starkers with all my wobbley bits exposed, lol.

How do you all feel doing treatments on larger people? I'm paranoid the therapist will be thinking oh my god what have I ended up with today

Thanks in advance!

Go for the body massage, you will love it. Don't worry about it as you are never exposed, only the part of the body the therapist is working on is ever exposed. When you turn over the hold the towel up so she sees nothing.

As to your wobbly bits, I know my massage therapit would rather have someone bigger as she has more of an area to massage!

You'll enjoy it, I love it.

The therapist should ask you to take all your clothes off BAR your knickers, my massage routine starts of with you lying on your back, i massage the legs (the one that is not being massaged is covered and your top half is covered) then the arms (both legs will be covered) turn you over so you lie on your stomach do the back of the legs (again whatever is not being massaged is covered) and finish off with the back neck and scalp.... as far as im concerned its much nicer to massage someone with a bit of "meat" on them as opposed to massaging a skeleton, nothing worse than massaging a really skinny person, you feel like your going to break a bone and you cant really get stuck in, if you know what i mean. Remember the therapist sees hundreds of people a week she has seen all kinds of shapes and sizes so i dont think she will be as consious as you are self consious... what i do recommend is that you have a shower before your massage and come to her clean, nothing worse than massaging a smelly person or someone who has just had a ***.. ugh!
Don't be paranoid, love yourself :Grope: hth

Hi ya,
Dont worry at all, go for the massage.
youll be given towells to lie in so you dont feel exposed, and its mainly legs arms back face and head massage, some places massage your stomach, and dont worry the therapist would of seen it all before.
hope this helps.:)

I always ask my clients if they would like their tummy massaged.. some prefer to omit it even though it is a very nice and relaxing part of the body massage, no matter what size you are :)

go for the massage you'll love it ...i to start from the front to the back but in aromatherapy i start from the back ...i for one ..hoping no one is offended enjoy giving massages to clients with a bit of meat on them ..gets my old muscles working .

I'm a size 20 & I swap treatments with another girl, size 24. We both agree that it's better to have a bit of flesh to work on than skin & bone. Only the part of the body being worked on at the time is exposed and when you turn over, the therapist should hold the towel up so that you are screened - that's called towel etiquette.
If there is an exfoliation treatment that you could add on, I'd pay the extra and get gorgeous soft skin too :wink2:
Enjoy !

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments, it's put my mind at ease.

I'm going to book for the body massage!! Relaxation - Here I come :)

Enjoy yourself Huni, I know you will:)

Full body will be nice, although ask the therapist what her procedure is.
Normally abdomen would be included but I would always ask if a client wanted this first as some people may not want it for various reasons.

Some people who do massage (check healthypages) seem to prefer client to be totally naked with or without wraps. However, i think most beauty therapists don't do this.

Whenever I did a massage I preferred to used towels to cover and asked men to wear shorts if it was a full body massge for them.

I'd still have my stomach included cos it's lovely :)
I'm not thin but i just forget what my body is like and lay back and enjoy. Nothing better than a nice massage

ha!

see I'm skinny as hell and for the exact opposite reason I still don't book mine!
when I'm naked it's like you can name each bone, and I know some do fear to break one (even more when I tell them I tend to break one every year)

so go for it, really!

Hey Kel, don't worry about your size, if the therapists are anyting like me they should be professional, love what they do and size doesn't matter at all. When I do full body massages I transfer my good feelings across to the client helping them feel relaxed and the feedback that I get is always fantastic. So ... young lady, have your massage and ENJOY !!! let me know how it went.

I'm not a skin geek but just wanted to say relax and enjoy it! I go to an espa salon, and even for facials I am in the nud apart from my knicks. I don't even think about it now, your modesty is well protected, and you are so darn relaxed that you don't even give it a thought (I am by no means skinny either!). Just enjoy it, that is what you are there for- plus, it is most likely that you will never see this person again anyway.
Have fun :D

Thanks everyone for your comments i really feel much better about the whole thing.

I phoned and booked the hot stone massage yesterday! I'm going Monday and ghet back late Wed so i'll let you all know how it goes and thanks :)
