Hey

I went to a Toni and Guy with my partner, the girl doing his hair had what she called 'twinkle toes' but she couldnt tell me how they had been done.

They looked gel based but im not too sure, basically her toes were a subtle sea grean colour glitter (i think it was just glitter and no colour) are there any glitter gels out there? How would i go about trying to recreate this look? Just mix glitter with a clear gel and apply to the full nail?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Sarah Jane

Any chance of getting a photo of the toes?

There are alot of places now that sell glitter gel already done in lots colours....I know akzentz do 6...(purple, pewter, blue, gold, silver and pink) called Akzentz Options Aurora Colours.

But you can use clear gel...then dab some glitter on and cure...then seal with another layer of clear gel.

hi sarah jane
this look can be achieved by mixing glitter powder with your builder gel. i use young nails glitter powder . the amount of glitter to gel really depends on the look you want. You can also mix some glitter in with coloured gel to achieve this look.
What system are you using as im sure your educator or supplier will be able to supply these products and talk you through the application method as application methods vary from product to product.

Thanks guys!

i didnt think to get a picture actually!
Im using NSI at the moment and ive seen some glitter gel in there mag, it tells you how to apply over a sculpting form and says it can be used over tips so im assuming i can use it as an overlay aswell. Ill have a go at adding glitter to my builder gel first though because i have tones of glitter!

I do these,
i do my base gel and cure then sprinkle the glitter onto the nails,
cover with another coat of gel and cure and finish with a top gloss,
they look great,
i do have photos so will try to add one to my album for you

Manage to add a couple for anyone to have a look at if you want to see what they look like, they are far more sparkly in real life,
first time i did mine i walked into a lamp post in the middle of Leeds because i was so busy looking at my toes lol

These were done with glitter gel......really quick and easy to do as there is no apex and a high shine top coat after buffing (hardly any needs to be done tbh) makes them look really lovely.
Nail Creation used to distribute them similar to these but also without any colour just glitter but unsure if there is another distributor yet in the UK.
A similar idea can be done with glitter L&P eg boogie nights from EzFlow.
Sorry Lou but just lmao at the lamp post thing:lol::hug:

I have a couple of these gels and I have to say that you won't get the same effect with them at all. They don't have a high content of glitter like the twinkle toes have. They really only give a slight glitter coating.

Loving the toes though. They look gorgeous.. that's my saturday afternoon sorted :)

Hey kelis

Yep Twinkle toes were the rage at Gmex on the Young nails stand my poor wee Girls were shattered by the end on Sunday.

The Twinkle tose kit contains all you need to get started in you 9 watt lamp and full instructions.

Hope this helps all:hug:

Thankyou Louise :) xx

Really hun guess i wont bother buying any then:lol: i will stick with my clear gel and pots of glitter:green:

Sorry to bother you again but one more question hun, were they star shaped Rhinestones?? Thats all there is in star shapes in le chats online store or thats all they have left atm. The ones i used to have were tiny confetti stuff like the stuff you sprinkle on party tables. This is what im after but in tiny versions iykwim xx

I mix glitter with Brisa Gloss in the small plastic dish, it becomes more workable and less messy, glitter is incased within the gel once its cured, so when it comes to apply clear builder over the top you dont get any glitter in your clear and you hardly need to do filing/refining.

I love IBD and EzFlow glitters for their fine texture. i dont like to sprinkle glitter over nails as it gets everywhere but not where it should be. One incident taught me not to - when my client sneezed while i was sprinkling, glitter was all over both of us, but not the nails. Was a good laugh though, but I would not want a repeat, lol)

I do a dry prep on the toe nails, cleanse the nail, apply a bonder, then a layer of self leveling gel, cure leaving the tacky layer on,then use the poofer bottle from my kit and sprinkle it in the nails, cure, then another layer of gel and remove tacky layer--done-you can a lso apply a UV gel coat for extra shine!!
