The function of sinuses is unknown as a resolute answer, but there are many thoughts, such as serving as a way to decrease the weight of the skull or to function as resonators for the voice (ie: the way it resounds in your head when theyre blocked, or people who ae deemed to sound 'nasal').
Hopefully another geek may have a more definitive answer
