...... could we please ask that old polls not be resurrected as the polls themselves are so out of date. Many polls have been restarted recently when they are like over 2 years old.

The purpose of a poll is to get current votes on likes, dislikes, opinions etc...... If eg. the current government used a poll from 2 years ago to decide how voters might vote today we simply know that opinions and ideas do change constantly.

Please, please give this some thought.

Look guys, I know its a PITA for many, but the reality is that is how the site works. You go to the home page and it ASKS you to participate in a random poll. I am not sure what the big fuss is about... just don't read them!

FWIW, I found (and just implemented) a way to limit the random polls on the home page so that only those from within the last 90 days appear. Sadly though, I think this will limit some of the greater and timeless ones.

The newly implemented poll thing will definitely help, Thank you Sam.

Personally, however, I don't see the point of a poll unless it is fairly recent as I explained in my initial post. I posted a new poll recently and have found the comments and voting interesting. In one post I explained that it helps me look at current opinions and trends in make-up as this is one of my interests.

I have to say I fell for this myself only yesterday when I signed in and spotted the random poll on the bottom right of the screen.

This poll interested me and I noted I hadn't voted..so like a good geek I voted and passed my views.

Within minutes the poll was closed with a moderator passing comment requesting geeks to refrain from dragging up old postings...confusion of course set in my mind.

Hoping the new measures avoid any further confusion and unnecessary work for the moderators :hug:
