I miss Tammie! I'm glad some people have gone though, I don't want to read arrogance and how dreadfully wealthy people are due to their awesomeness. I like lighthearted fun and professional development (not necessarily in equal amounts!) Long live SG :)

Lots of posts going on but there is no substance to most answers. Then posts just fizzle out.

Maybe your right you do out grow this stuff, I've now got a warning for commenting in jest on a post that was offering dangerous advice, my post was removed, the dangerous advice is still there. I see the sense in that.

Because this is substance:

You like to tell people what sort of people they are don't you? That's one quality I don't have is opinion on other peoples personalities

I'm not fussed by your comments .... I may irritate you but not as much as your comments irritate me.

While potentially irritating, a better approach would have been to give constructive criticism that would counter the person you addressed that to rather than let it turn into a salon break room bitch-fest.

Seriously guys... you have options. Exercise them if SalonGeek.com no longer meets your needs.

Totally taken out of context as it was a response to a geek who had written something about me.

I didn't claim to bring the only bit of substance to hair geek.

Like I said I make a comment about dangerous information being given and look how that's turned out.

Pretty much made my mind up now.

you know what, nothing stays the same. Things move on, things change, Geeks come and go........the good the bad and the ugly!! A lot of Geeks I am sure came to this forum looking for information, advice and education. Its still all available on this site...........don't let a few 'personalities' destroy what is a fantastic resource. There are some very talented Geeks that give an immense amount of time helping out others............be grateful and use it to your advantage.

You're right... let me add your only other comment in the thread to put it into context:

Yawn ....another silver/grey/highlift/toner thread.

This is the type of tripe the team gets burdened with. Not really classified as "constructive" is it?

Surely information that is incorrect should be rectified all be it in a nice non preaching, condescending way, however I blame the written text to have no tone, if I were to say something without any hth or smiley face then it could be taken out of context completely however not all of us feel the need to do this and I understand that, that's how professionals learn and grow, some of the posts are very repetitive and I do find this very annoying.... However everytime I have posted / made comment or asked questions that in my mind are valid, again some might think uhhh you should know this etc.. But I get lovely responses and take this info and use it with usually great success... And the responses that I give I try to come across as helpful... I used to flit in n out of virtues and tonic conversations however I rarely commented as I felt I would be barging in (own personal opinion) and I couldn't keep up with it I would've had to be part time to keep up :) but after a days work they sure did lift my mood 👍👍

the site isn't the same, there is no more staff room style chit chat.. its almost become strained..i think you banned the wrong people, I see trolls still here and sit scratching my head as to why.

I also have been looking at the member list, boredom makes me search..
if you deleted all the folk who joined way back when but have never posted or not logged in for years then you would have this site down to far less than the member count it has, really this site has far more general veiwers than members logging in, its like voyeurism for nail porn :lick:

the village of the banned as you call it is quite offensive, that shows playground mentality really and not leadership qualities, but as one owner of a site to another I will raise my head higher and ignore..

SG folks I miss... well its more their style of posting.. tammie and J'anna with their crazy banter.. wicked, friendly vicious and always tollerated.

I love to pop in and check on baby Mia, see her progress and see how the support of fellow geeks and ex geeks help them along.

now back to the quiet check through....

Just had a message from one if your mods, admitting missing the post I was commenting on.

I admit it came out as sarcasm, but nether the less I was pointing out yet again dangerous information being given on the hair geek.

is this relevant to the thread at hand?
why is there cross thread posts going on??
surely we should be sticking to topic and if its directed at one person then should be done in PM??
this is aimed at you both.

I'm out of it now- throwing comments in out of context is below the belt. Luckily the other comments have now been deleted- surely i wasn't just being singled out- that wouldnt happen in SG.

Yeah I agree anybody can see posts. Even when you type in a hair product in google it comes up with SG! think it would be a lot better for login members only to keep it more professional for us trades than a random person seeing information and end up damaging their hair.

see that's the problem, this is a site stating professionals only yet all this fab advise is being picked up by the non professionals and being used, I have heard myself folk say 'well ???? is a top nail person and they were saying on salon geek it has to be done this way'
yes there is a wealth of knowledge in this site and some very talented techs but whatever happened to looking after our own.. make the site professional, screen folk as best as can be and have it mainly for professionals, have a consumer part attached for the non pros to post and ask questions which can be accessed by all.. it isn't hard to set up.

until then it will always be the qualified teaching the non qualified, beit in classrooms or sites.

And how much would you be willing to pay to belong to a site staffed by paid professional moderators?

Strained sucks... I hear you. But so does the uncomfortable feeling (and reported posts) that come from staff room banter that turns hostile towards people. Let me be clear: Banter === good. Hostile bullying === bad.

Yup... I clear out unactivated accounts from time to time - but that isn't really a valid metric. What is important are the amount of people currently coming to the site and whether they stay or not. That is a value measure.

Ok. Personally found it quite amusing. And FWIW, a reduction of the playground mentality would have prevented the Village from being formed.

I love sarcasm as long as there is a point apart from the sardonic. Though that may have been your intention, the quip that instigated the deletion of your 2 posts from the thread were a result of your posts (as I quoted in their entirety).

I am sorry if some of you no longer feel SG meets all of your needs. Truly. But if it means that I have to let the site turn into the back room of a salon where banter, gossip and slag fests trump good constructive discussions that benefit one another and the profession at large, then I will be honest and say that I simply can't meet your needs. I refuse to let that happen (worked in enough of those thanks!). We are primarily here to share, learn and help. If you need more of a salon back room environment, there are enough of those out there.

Er... it was to address the point that came before it?

Exactly! Totally agree! :) We haven't gone to college for **** all! That would be me joining net mums and pretending to be a single mother with 17kids when I could be a weirdo. Also my sisters friend is a builder and they have their own trade website for TRADES only.

I wasn't going to comment on this but I honestly find it very disrespectful for everyone to moan about this and that, yes there is some things we would all love to change but come on let's not forget what this site is really all about and that's to help each and every one of us to progress in our careers, if people don't like it then why don't you just log out, a site like this that has the amount of members it has isn't going to please everyone, I honestly think we should all be more grateful that we have this and that moderators aswel as professional like ourselves give our free time give input and help as much as possible so if you don't like it why continue coming on xx

I miss bluerinse , tomme and Kaye 74 !
Great knowledge learnt a lot from them ! Don't think Kaye was banned though x

Hostile bullying is still here tho ... it has been pointed out, not just in here but elsewhere about how they manage to do this behaviour, it has been shared with the relevant people but it is still happening..
your site tho, you have the right to be selective over what you call bullying behaviour and what you don't.

I counted loads of members that singed up in 2009 and are still in the member list with no activity, I think you need a finer toothcomb ;)

of course you would find it amusing, it is you who is dishing out the name calling!!
FWIW the site was built far before your banning... I have been building sites for many many years, never have I come across such huge chips as I have in this here site... just very lucky I think!

I love sarcasm as long as there is a point apart from the sardonic. Though that may have been your intention, the quip that instigated the deletion of your 2 posts from the thread were a result of your posts (as I quoted in their entirety).

ok so this bit doesn't mean me but I am enjoying the writing in red... it is my fave colour after all :)

but we are sharing and teaching the voyers... what happened to this being a professional site only?
